|
|
I am traveling to Colorado this Christmas to spend it with my parents.
My mother is going to teach me how to make the traditional German Christmas dinner.
Gans: roast goose
Rotkraut: Which I can't find an image for, basically red cabbage that's prepared sweet and sour and served warm.
Knoedel: ignore the hunk of meat, that round thing on the side, a potato dumpling
That's the basics of the meal. We'll also be making the Diekhans family traditional Christmas cookies.
Terrassen: Once again, can't find an image. They are butter cookies. One on the bottom, jam in the middle, one with a hole in the middle on the top.
Kokosmakronen: Whipped egg whites with sugar and roasted coconut, baked.
Vanille Kipfernl: A crescent shaped cookie made with vanilla and ground almonds.
How exciting. It's gonna be a great Christmas with my family.
Excuse the size of the potato dumpling.

I am looking forward to my Thanksgiving dinner because my cousin is cooking Turduckin! It is a Turkey, stuffed with a chicken, stuffed with a duck and it tastes amazing. _________________ "So they want to kill my men? Well two can play at that game."

Ok I tend to be a bit of an a-hole with these things, but Santa has yet to show up during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and thus Christmas does not exist yet.
HOWEVER, your plans do sound awesome and like a lot of fun.... tasty delicious fun. _________________

Sounds nummy, i dunno what we're doing for Christmas, but for Thanksgiving it's always delicious, we all make it together ^_^
We've got the delicious garlic cream mashed potatoes (which i always end up being the one to mash)
Then there's yams, because my grandpa loves them
last year we had mashed turnips, which were also massively yummy
Green beans with the home made gravy from the turkey and it's delicious stuffing that takes forever to make but is epic tasty.
and then to top it all off, our families famous garlic butter baked dungeness crab ^_^
I'm very excited to be going home for thanksgiving, especially after living off of popsicles and noodle bowls XD _________________

I only bring it up because my parents and I are now planning all the stuff we'll get to do together when I come to visit. I'm super excited, haven't seen them in ages, so tis why I brought it up. Don't like it? Don't post.
I concur, Asian, the crab is amazing! I've no clue what I'm having for Thanksgiving. I'm going with my boyfriend to his aunt's house. _________________ "Art is science made clear." -Jean Cocteau |

| Its not that we dont like it, i mean the food looks great, especially the duck thing. Its just we think its a too early for x-mas. Like you know how you go into stoares before halloween ends and they already have stockings and red and green m and ms. Somehow they look delicious still but your curious as to why they are already there....and sometimes you buy them anyways. |

I think that the dinner does look very good, better then a turkey for Thanksgiving. I think that while the topic seems a bit early, it may be fitting if the plans were just made. Thanksgiving is pretty much the same for people so talking about what to have then is boring. _________________

| Yeah that is boring about Thanksgiving, its kinda always the same no matter what you add. k so turkey duck and chicken, its nice and delicious, but its traditional(r traditional modern maybe) and also TG has only been around for a few hundred years.....so yeah. |

I just figured, as Koku said, Thanksgiving is pretty much the same for everyone to post about the other traditional food for my family.
When I go, I'll be taking a million and one pictures. I'll take pictures of the dinner. XD _________________ "Art is science made clear." -Jean Cocteau |
