We are doomed as a human race....some signs we're comming to our end....

1. Only in America......can a pizza get to your house faster than an ambulance.

2. Only in America......are there handicap parking places in front of a skating rink.

3. Only in America......do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.

4. Only in America......do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries, and a diet coke.

5. Only in America......do banks leave both doors open and then chain the pens to the counters.

6. Only in America......do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage.

7. Only in America......do we use answering machines to screen calls and then have call waiting so we won't miss a call from someone we didn't want to talk to in the first place.

8. Only in America......do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in packages of eight.

9. Only in America......do we use the word 'politics' to describe the process so well: 'Poli' in Latin meaning 'many' and 'tics' meaning 'bloodsucking creatures'

10. Only in America......do they have drive-up ATM's with Braille lettering.

In case you needed further proof that the human race is doomed through stupidity, here are some actual label instructions on consumer goods:

On a Sears hairdryer: Do not use while sleeping. ( that's the only time I have to work on my hair).

On a bag of Fritos:! ..You could be a winner! No purchase necessary. Details inside. (the shoplifter special)?

On a bar of Dial soap: "Directions: Use like regular soap." (and that would be how???....)

On some Swanson frozen dinners: "Serving suggestion: Defrost." (but, it's "just" a suggestion).

On Tesco's Tiramisu dessert (printed on bottom): "Do not turn upside down." (well...duh, a bit late, huh)!

On Marks & Spencer Bread Pudding: "Product will be hot after heating." (...and you thought????...)

On packaging for a Rowenta iron: "Do not iron clothes on body." (but wouldn't this save me more time?)

On Boot's Children Cough Medicine: "Do not drive a car or operate machinery after taking this medication." (We could do a lot to reduce the rate of construction accidents if we could just get those 5-year-olds with head-colds off those forklifts.)

On Nytol Sleep Aid: "Warning: May cause drowsiness." (and.. .I'm taking this because???....)

On most brands of Christmas lights: "For indoor or outdoor use only." (as opposed to...what?)

On a Japanese food processor: "Not to be used for the other use." (now, somebody out there, help me on this. I'm a bit curious.)

On Sunsbury's peanuts: "Warning: contains nuts." (talk about a news flash)

On an American Airlines packet of nuts: "Instructions: Open packet, eat nuts." (Step 3: maybe, uh...fly Delta?)

On a child's superman costume: "Wearing of this garment does not enable you to fly." (I don't blame the company. I blame the parents for this one.)

On a Swedish chainsaw: "Do not attempt to stop chain with your hands or genitals." (..was there a lot of this happening somewhere?)

On a bottle of Pamprin : " ASK DOCTOR BEFORE USE IF YOU HAVE a breathing problem such as emphysema or chronic bronchitis, glacoma, difficulty in urination DUE TO ENLARGEMENT OF THE PROSTATE GLAND." (ummm.....last time I had THAT checked....wait...I don't have one!)

It is still a funny list. Good find, but it may be missing some funny ones. As for the Christmas lights thing, I know that one big problem with them is that many are not built to get wet by the socket and work, it may get very dangerous, furthermore, people may put them near dry objects (dead leaves in a gutter), and after a long time, those objects may catch on fire. I am sure there are some made for the outside though.

in replay to the plagiarism, I would give credit to whoever wrote it....but I found that in the dark, forgotten recesses of my yahoo account from Highschool and updated it to my Myspace Blog....and I have never known the writer, just that a friend from school and sent it to me...and the last one...about Pamprin...that one I actualy wrote....this list, and the one of "Things I ask myself"....is weird things I've accumilated over time.

They do make you wonder at times. I remember you, tigereyz, showing me the trailer to the movie "Idiotocracy" (sp?). Lists like these remind me of that movie.

I went to a pokemon convention once and there were these strollers there. A small bag no more than 6 inches deeps(think of it more as a rectangle of plastic affixed to fabric) was on the back of the stroller. On that small bag was a label. "Dont Put Baby in Bag"

Man heres how stupid America is in relation with pokemon... remember the first set of Pokemon toys at Burger King? The ones that came in those cool little pokeballs that you would throw and have explode open. Yeah.. those pokeballs got recalled because kids were suffocating themselves with them.

I have read in the paper before about a burglar that broke into a garage of a family that was away on vacation. The got got stuck and couldnt get out. He fed on dog food for about a month in order to survive and later sued the family because of this. The worst part, he won the case and reward hundreds of thousands of dollars.

I've got a list of things like that too....the toy recalls....like there's one where it's a rubberband shooter, and it was recalled because kids were getting shot in the eye with it.....my opinion is this :

1) Parents.....COME ON......pay attention.....I'd bet every penny I own on the rise children toy-related deaths directly mimics the rise in young mothers. I've seen parents that lock their kids in the bedroom at 7, so they can drink. And I've seen mothers that take a nap while their 2 year old runs loose. (I'm NOT saying that EVERY young mother is a bad mother...I'm generlizing, and basing it on every young mother I've met that was under 25) Also....look at the age of your child...if your child is under 5.....it's PROLLY not a good idea to give them a toy with tiny pices that could be swallowed.

2) Kids are kids....they're gonna fall, they're gonna get bumps, bruises, and cuts.....they bounce back. I'm only 22, and I remember playing with Metal Tonka trucks that were all rusty from being forgotten outside....or those stupid Polly Pocket dolls that they can't sell anymore. My Brother and I used to beat the crap out of each other...and when our mom caught us, SHE'D beat the crap outta the both of us and call it even. I see parents and kids today *pleading whisper* "jimmy....please jimmy.....that's naughty.....jimmy...that's not very nice....jimmy....no...no, don't do that....please?....If you stop, i'll buy you a toy....you don't want a toy? I'll get you ice cream then.." In my opinion, raising children is not a democracy. not untill they're older...and evene then...it's still not a democracy...but you should let them have a say when they're old enough to make a point about why they should stay out till 3am....

Like I said......Strictly my opinion ( I LOVE to debate....)

That is actually not what you are supposed to do. I suppose that not letting them have a say when they are below the age of 6 to 8 is ok, but after that you must be a little more lenient. You must allow them to make some decisions on their own, it is part of growing up. Even before that you must not tell them it is your way in a very stubborn way, but make it seem like it is for their best. This will allow the family to work to gether in a very good way, as well as make the children still love, respect, and want to listen to you.

After 8 years of age though they do have a mind, so let them make some basic decisions (such as what to have for supper or what cereal they want). This will help them become independent. However, with this the key word is minor decisions. You must still show who has the major authority to make it so they do not yell or disobey at you. Authoritative parenting is the best way to go, and this is what I am trying to describe. It is hard to do, but very good to do in the long run

As for bad parents in America. While there may be a lot of them, there are also a lot of good parents. You just never hear or see them as they are not news worthy. I know many responsible, loving parents who do not do bad things. Those that are bad are the ones who did not know what they were getting themselves into, and do not realize the long run harm they are doing to their children.

Oh, I'm not trying to say that there are NO good parents....Just pointing out my opinions on the bad ones....and as for what your saying with parenting...I agree...I think I just described it a little forcefully....when I say it's not a democracy, what I mean is the child doesn't get to set the rules. what the parent says is the final say. If said parent doesn't have a prefrence on something, say what kind of cereal, then by all means, let them choose...but if the parent wants timmy in bed by 9, and timmy wants to watch a movie, say no, and send him to bed! I've seen too many parents say no, and then the child screams and crys and throws a hissy fit, because the parents cave since they don't want to deal with it, and by giving in, quite the kid down. My youngest cousin, when my aunt and uncle tried to quit spoiling him, he would cry until he threw up over things like not watching a movie before bed, or if he wanted to get that toy in the store.

The ideal (thus rarely ever happen) parentage story would prlly have to be the Gilmore girls. You see a happy mother, daughter family unit that works thier ways through problems. You also see how the grandmother likes to run things. you get to see two different styles.

as for the topic of stupidity, the IT people have had over 3 weeks to fix the connection between my phone and computer. at least I am hearing that we will be getting a new seating arrangemnt. I will be getting a window seat way away the crappy managers.

Well that is good for you. Man, window and LE, that is great for you. Others must be kind of jealous of you. Speaking of fixing things, charter communications have been having issues recently, so now we only clearly get MTV, MTV2, and VH1. I now know what it is like to go down below instead of heaven.

the windows are great. come winter, few want to be near them for the cold seeps in. I dont mind it. So I think that is the biggest reason I am getting placed over there.
