Beast 2; BB, KHaving still received reports about Validian Serpents inhabiting Lake Validus. The imperial guard sets out to destroy the remaining beasts. After not so many days in a wagon they arrive at the last. The sun is setting.
Beanbaker
"What a scene this is. The lake, the sun, the village out a bit, so what is up with these serpents? How much of a threat are they?"
Koku
"They are a huge threat very powerful, but tons of fun to kill." With that I dive into the water.
"What are you waiting for, let's go kill some of these serpents!"
Beanbaker
I dive into the water a little cautious, and begin to swim foreward. "Anything good come from these guys, or is this like the lump bird hunting but better?"
Billgar
*Koku reaching far into the lead sees a massive form ontop of the water a bit off, approaching swiftly he doesnt know what to make of it*
Koku
Approaching it just as fast I swim to it then duck under it at the last moment to see what it is. If it turns out to be a validian serpent or some other type of beast I plan to slay it. If it is the emperor, beanbaker, or some other person I shall wait before swinging.
Billgar
*ah, validian serpents indeed and it seems that they have been busy, at first glimpse you estimate about 30-40 of them*
Beanbaker
Now caught up, I whisper to Koku, "Holy s***, can we handle all of them? It seems like they got a kill or something."
Koku
No we probably can not handle them, I suggest trying to run away fast! With that I swim and reach the bank, getting out of the water I stay out of the water until it calms down.
Beanbaker
I quickly follow Koku, this time keeping up, and running to the nearest tree for safety and to regain my constitution.
Billgar
barely making it out of the water in time you narrowly escape death, after some time it calms down.
Koku
"OK I can take probably 10 at most. I do not think it would be wise to try now. I think we would have to wait for them to break up." With that I look at them frustrated.
Beanbaker
"If only we had ranged weapons we could pick some of them off at a safe distance." I look around, and see the makeshift boat that ran aground. "Don't suppose the boat will be of any use?"
Koku
nope, and a ranged weapon would do nothing as the projectile would be hampered by the water. The best thing we could do is sit here and wait from them to separate, take down the weakest link, rinse, and repeat. It is all we could do. It will take a long time but it will be worth it.
Beanbaker
"Well, they are carnivorous too, what about fishing them out and then just killing them on land or something? We could find some kind of animal either here or in town, slaughter it, and then use it as bait."
Koku
it is dangerous and may not work well. They are probably well fed in the lake with the other unknown water creatures, Besides even if we do that, my scythe can take down one or two of them at once, and all of them will come out and try to feed. It will just not give enough time.
Beanbaker
"Well, then, I guess wait." I lay on one of the tree branches and wait for Koku's word.
Billgar
*the water finally calms down*
Koku
I look over to see if there are still a group of them together. I also look for stragglers close by that I can kill and come back to the shore before being noticed.
Billgar
No serpents are within sight, especially considering the low visibility on this night without a moon.
Koku
I pick up beanbaker and throw him into the water. "Sorry, someone has got to find out, and it won't be me." Throwing him into the water I hear the splash and hope that if there is a pack he is fast enough to swim away.
Beanbaker
I draw my sword. "Water's fine, I got a surprise to show you when you get your chicken feet in here." I put my head underwater to look and hear for anything, and there is.... [insert object]
Billgar
A few baby serpent about an inch to three inches each swim by beans vision.
Beanbaker
"Maybe we're near an egg ground or something. The young look like they just hatched. Maybe the parents might be nearby?"
Koku
"yeah umm, if you want you can stay in there, but I do not like the sound of young ones. I would say kill the young then swim away fast."
With that I watch from the shore to make sure beanbaker is alright.
Beanbaker
With that I slay the small ones by crushing them with my fingers. "That's three. If I find about twenty more I could make french fries. I don't think I see any more though." I swim back to shore.
Billgar
*both guards stand on the shore. Finally morning dawns, the waters are calm as the sun rises over the lake giving a feel of warmth as it lights the water ablaze with its orange glow.*
Koku
"Well that was not what I was expecting at all. I come here once and only 4 get killed, I come her now and there are about 10 times as much." With that I laugh as I head towards the carriage. "They are nocturnal so now they would be together sleeping. I don't think there is any point to try to fight them, we will just wake them up and then die. Let's go, maybe some other night will be better."
Beanbaker
"Alright, although I still think we should fish them out next time." I climb into the carriage.
Billgar
You both return to the capital.
