So this is a new film by Takashi Miike. It is really good, and the action is enjoyable. The main plot is simply about a new comer at the high school nicknamed Crows High School (filled with the roughest high schoolers in Japan). He tries to unite the school under his rule, something that was never done before. He must go up against the organization run by Tamao Serizawa. There is a sub plot (or two) in it as well. It is worth watching.

Its actually a prequel to the classic manga Crows, which is a prequel to the manga worst. While the movie did look enjoyable, I do not think I will watch it as I have not yet read Crows, and thus I do not think I will appreciate it as much as I otherwise would.

The manga crows is horrible. I tried to read it after watchign the movie to find the movie to be MUCH better. The manga has a good amount of comedy (as does the movie), but the characters are far less cool as those in the movie. The movie is on a far diferent level.

So is there an anime? That aside is there a legit subbing of it yet available on DVD or is it fansub only? Also if it isnt out legit yet, are there plans?.

I do not think there is a legit subbing of it, and there is no anime of yet (but I think one is being made). I think if there was a legal sub of it I would actually get it though. It is buy worthy.

There is no anime of it and one is NOT in the works. As for a stateside release, it is unlikely as Crows has never seen the US in any form, but I do suppose the fact that it is a Takeshi movie means that there is a chance of it coming out. However as a side note, a sequel to the movie is in the works.

wait so what is Koukou Butouden Crows (OAV)? I thought that this was going to be an anime. Are there mini movies of Crow that I do not know about?

Its an OVA of 2- 45 minute episodes of a 26 volume manga. I am afraid to say that if anything, it is a gaiden or something. Not to mention that it is from 1994 so its pretty old and aired midway through the Crows serialization.
