Lump bird season open: Arch, Hiei, KokuWaiting outside of the tavern it is not so long before a carriage arrives. The imperial seal is marked on the side and the color of the canopy is white. With this bearing of peace, Hans forces wont attack as you head out of the capital. With too much delay and hesitation by the guards, the gate is lowered just long enough for the carriage to get onto the great bridge connecting Netropitous to the mainland. After traveling the 4 Krims lengths of the bridge you make it to an open field. The driver instructs you that he shall let you know when time is up.
The environment is desolate but serene. A noon sun is overhead and a few sun-baked trees are scattered around.

I stare deeply into my surroundings. After a moment, I start to make small conversation with archaic and koku in the wake of my long absence.

As you bide your time chatting, Hiei sense a presence in a near by shrub. A very light "fwut" is heard emanating from it. Surely it cannot be the shrub itself and that type of fwut can coem from only one thing. A Lump bird.

Archaic
|
*Archaic converses with HieiOtaku before taking out his kiseru, his gladius and some string. Lighting the kiseru he starts smoking it as he walks away to the middle of the field where he looks around for lump birds.*
"Come out come out where ever you are."

Koku
|
Letting my wass down I look at him and nod. With that he goes running into the lains towards some shrubs. Following him I make sure to keep up with him without making too much noise.

I move to carefully examine the bush. Moving cautiously, I part the leaves of shrub and peer into the contents inside.

Hiei opening up the branches of the shrub finds a lump bird sleeping within its branches safely. Eyes closed it fwuts softly almsot as if in a light snore.

Chaing after his wass Koku approaches a bush. The wass jumping in scares out three lump birds which take off running in different directs for about a minute before settling down.

Archaic with pipe in hand wanders off a bit looking around. Stringing his gladius e keeps a open eye but has no luck.

*Archaic finds some trees off in the distance and decides to head over to them. Taking an other couple puffs from the kiseru, Archaic finally makes his way over to the tree and looks around.*
"fwwwt! fwwwt!"

Hiei's conscious plagues him about attacking the sleeping bird. It appears to mean no harm, so he purposely makes a light noise in an attempt to wake it. Feeling the bird should at least be given a fighting chance, he stands and observes what happens next.

Koku
|
Picking up my wass, I calm him down by petting him, then pet him slower and slower to tell him to calm down. Approaching one slowly I allow my wass to slowly advance and grab him as I attempt to hold him to. I hope that I can capture it. As I hold it I try to calm it down quickly by putting part of my cloak over its eyes (it works with some real birds) and petting it slowly.

Archaic spotting the trees sees a lump bird sleeping up in the branches. Basking in the sun it seems warm and happy. the smoke trickles up from the pipe and aggregates it nose. With a groggy fwut it awakens.

Hiei waking up the lump bird sees its lazy half asleep eyes look up to him with curiosity

The semi captured lump bird begins to flap around violently trying to escape. It evidently doesn't like the idea of confinement. However after persisting for a while it ceases to move. Taking the action of putting the cloak over it as an attack, it defensive powers kick in and it magics its way out of the cloak.

*Archaic puts out the kiseru and picks up a rock on the ground. Attaching it to the end of the string, Archaic begins to climb the tree until he is eye level with the lumpbird. Smiling At it, archaic waves and says hi as he waits for its reaction.*
"Hows it going there little guy?"

Hiei tries not to startle the animal by sitting down in front of it instead of standing over it ominously. In an attempt to befriend it, he picks a bug off of a blade of grass and puts his hand forward as an offering of peace. He notes that the birds largely consume insects and hopes that this will be acceptable in hopes of not scaring it away.

Trying to calm it down I continue to have my wass hold it with both appendages as I hold onto with one arm and pet it with my other arm. Hoping it tires soon I continue with this technique for a little bit.

Looking over at the warrior, the lump bird meets archaic's gaze. Looking lazily away from him it settles back into its slumber.

Pulling a more that rather schmall Suru from a blade of grass, hiei places it in front of the avian creature. Extending out its neck it plucks it of then stands. Awkwardly waddling it exits the bush but stays close by.

Letting you do as you will, the bird is a lazy beast and gave up fighting after the cloak attempt, though it seems uncomfortable.

*Archaic picks up the lumpbird slowly and pets its back fathers to show it that he means no harm. He was able to somewhat control his blood lust due to the lack of humans and his greed controlled the rest of it. Smiling at his new friend he climbs down the tree and relaxes as he pets its head very softly.*
"Hey there little guy, howd you like to team up with me?"

Making my wass let go of it I try to further comfort it. Looking for an insect, I eventually find one and feed it to the lump bird to show it that I actually mean to take care of it. I continue to pet it while feeding it any insects I find.

Glad that he didn't scare the bird away initially, Hiei slowly follows it and attempts to pat it undisturbingly. Hoping it will come to trust him, he continues this for a time.

Sensing the evil aura of the cloaked man beside it the lump bird does not take kindly to Koku

Archaic seems to be having more luck! Picking up the bird it seems not to resist and rests peacfully in the warriors hand whether it likes him or just doesnt care it is lazy beyond the normal even for a lump bird

Hiei following the bird one step at a time pets it at intervals the bird doesnt seem upset, it is just more apathetic than anything.

"Come on now, I mean no harm to you. You are not human so I will not hurt you." As I say that to the lump bird I continue to pet it to make it trust me.

Seeing archaic's success with his bird-handling, Hiei attempts to gently pick up the bird after patting it for some time. He is hoping that his kindness towards it will allow it to trust him.

*Archaic looks at the lumpbird in his hand and continues to pet it as he walks to an other tree. This was soem good luck he was having, but now he had to name it! Thinking of possible names Archaic finally settles on redrum because his eyes are red and his skin is the color of rum. Smiling with himself Archaic looks to see what's in this tree.*

the bird still bearing no ill will toward hiei, quickly escapes from his grasps and hurriedly re-enters the same bush.

the tree is bare, no leaves just a dead lump of wood.

*Archaic moves to an other group of trees with redrum in his hand still and sees if he cannot find a female for his new pet.*
"So what kind of mate would you like? Would you like one with a lot of bright orange feathers or just the normal looking lumpbirds eh?"

Knowing he is responding to my evil aura I know I can not do much. I still pet it but look down at him to show that I refuse to let him go. I hope that even if uncomfortable it will respect my request to have it become an ally of mine.

Hiei moves back towards the bird. He sits next to it, not staring at it but rather out towards the distance. He hopes to establish his presence as non-threatening.

Simply out of luck it seems that not too many lumpbirds are around today.

Koku forcefully stroking the bird eventually angers it. Trying to get out of his grasp it bites his finger.

Hiei rexamining the shrub is amazed to kind a small nest hidden within it. This explains the birds reluctancy to go. Two eggs are within it.

Now that it attacked me I know his shield is down. Grabbing some string I tie up its beak, tie its feet together, and using my cloak cover its eyes (I make sure it can breathe).
"Bad move bird, now you are mine! I am sorry but you are just what someone I knows needs and I know he will treat you right."

"I see. I won't bother you any further then."
Hiei realizes the situation and proceeds to let the bird alone to continue its nesting. He moves towards Koku to try and help him with the bird who clearly has a distaste for him.

*Archaic takes redrum and runs to the nearest bunch of bushes and tries to look for Ortch berries instead of lumpbirds now. Figuring that there may be some around here he really hopes to find some*

After stealing the bird, and with it still tied up the group is interrupted by the voice of the carriage driver. Reluctantly piling back in the group departs.
"I see you got two not a bad day!" The drivers charismatically notes, then looks at kokus tied up bird and frowns
"Well, i guess a win is a win." You seem arrive safely back within the walls of the capital.
