magicK so i have a great question concerning the fictional magic. First off if it isnt real that means that it is the product of someones imagination. Who first decided. Well...he can shoot fire from his hands or use mind control or whatever. I mean its ingenious!

I think it might have started from some people watching insane people. They seen them light their hands on fire for real, as well as stuff a bunny in a hat. They then decided to mystify the crazy people, as well as sane audiences by doing the tricks of having fire form in their hand, as well as pulling a rabbit out of the hat, without putting one in.

What happened was that one guy took a lot of... mind enhancing substances than watched a war. He saw people firing arrows with fire on them, but perceived it as them pulling their hands back and shouting kamehameha and then having the beam shoot out. Thus magic was invented. (All lies but it could be true to some extent. Legends of fire arrows could be stretched to the point where the fire came out of people's hands and what not.)

the idea of magic came about to explain what could not be explained. only the gods and thier blessed ones had the magic. look at the egyptians, druids in celtic cultures, the Indians, and many other pre-christianity religons, cultures, and societies. Heck, look back at greek mythology.
Sorry had to get all serious. Magic back then is science now.

Ah.....This topic made me laugh internally. There is no such proof that magic does not exist. Evidence, sure. But there is no possible way to disprove it. I'm sorry Bill, but I get irritated when someone says something doesn't exist. Have you explored the entire universe? And what of the possibility of other dimensions? If they do exist, have you explored them as well? I have no doubt that you are a wise and ingenious emperor, and all things within your kingdom are known to you, but compared to everything else, you are just a frog in a well, with no knowledge of what the ocean holds. Now, it certainly would be acceptable for you to say magic does not exist on Earth. That would be fine with me. Still, I would not agree with you, but at least you'd be able to make a case, there.

I agree with TK totally. Its just rather popular belief that things like magic are just seen as illusions, or chances of luck. If there was magic, I would like to see a true scientific examination and explanation done on it, but for as we know, the same as things like extraterrestrial life, suspicious beings like Sasquatch and the Lock Ness Monster, we cannot say either way whether it exists or not.
If magic existed in the past, however, I would like to know if anyone bothered to try to attempt an explanation (I know there might religious explanations, those are valid explanations, but I mean trying everything to find out things).

TK, as knowing you in real life, i feel that i should smack you for your lack of interpretive skills! My post was basically saying that it doesnt make sense that it doesnt exist, that there is no way to seomething so universal in so many countries couldnt have some common root. By asking who created it, i was trying to bring out a point that it wouldnt jsut be one person or one source and that it had to have some base.
On a side note, yes, yes i have explored the entire universe.

TK, I suddenly have more liking for you. Look in Africa. There are witch doctors who are doing things that we call miraciles, but when you look closely, they all believe in it. Belief is a powerful thing. Belief is what makes things happy and fills in that empty hole in everyone. It can be in magic, God, yourself, nothing, but there is always something. And yes, nothing is something.
so TK, dont disappoint me now.

Cool, I feel special. It's just always been a personal belief of mine that even if magic did not exist in this world, surely, in the infinate number of worlds and universes out there, there is a good chance that something like magic, sorcery, fey, whatever you want to call it, exists.
And Bill, when you throw around words like "fictional" or say things like "product of someone's imagination," a dude is bound to get the wrong idea. My apologies for misinterpreting you, but they way you worded it through me off, I suppose.
