Meaning of life.... a troubling question indeed.
I dunno about a meaning of life, but I'm sure there are some rather ridiculous attempts at answering it.
For me I think everyone has their own meaning, that one thing that keeps them motivated and inspires them to live. Rather vague actually... meh

But straight to the point without sounding like you know everything. At the sametime you speak of different answers/meanings for all. Kind of heard it before. Anyone else willing to take a stab at it?

Ok the first thing is that the movie is based off a book, a really good book, so please read it. Secondly, the scientific reason for life is to pass on ones genes for a futile fight to have the species remain until the end of time. Those who do not pass on their genes fade out of existence and those that do will continue to kind of exist until the cycle is broke.

I have the book at home somewhere if I can find it when I get back I'll let you borrow it.
Now for the meaning of life. I have my own but it's very depressive so I'm not going to bestow it upon all of you.

Oh that was a great movie by Monty Python, oh wait. . . you meant the real meaning. There are too many ways to answer this, from continuation of our species to any number of philosophical meanings. To be honest I do not know, and am glad that I do not. If we were able to understand the meaning of life, then life would become meaningless.

My point was that once we find it, we would only strive for that and everything else we do would seem pointless.

I suppose, but as Archaic pointed out, Kogepan got bored within 5 minutes of finding it, so it can not be that big. I think it may just be to live happily.

there is no meaning to life but there is a meaning to X-Life. We all suffer throughout living. we get little to no satisfaction, but in the end death is UNDODGEABLE . therefor, unless you are an immortal there is no meaning to life.

OH MAN! this just reminded me, in an episode of Sayonara Zaetsubou Sensei their is a woman hwo knows everything, but when he listens he says its just gossip, so he asks her a really hard question and she knows the answer, the he asks "What is the meaning of life?"
"Do you really want to know?"
And then after traveling and looking at some ancient item
"Zetsubou! Zetsubou Deshita......

Nice that is great. As for the meaning of life, it does not interest me too much now. I don't think I want to change how I live to follow it.
