So why do people hate on mullets? I was just looking at my hair and i realized it isnt mullet enough! Its just long! People always have this unneeded bias against mullets, but why? When wa the last time you heard someone say Snake or M.D Geist was lame becuz they had a mullet!

Did you know the mullet came to be for the reason of keeping the nape of hockey players' necks warm? The helmets did not go down far enough and there was nothing to wrap around there without interfering with your movement, so the players just let thier back hair cover it instead.

In highschool people thought I had a mullet. When I pulled my front hair down in in front of my face instead of pushed back, they realized they were mistaken. I even remember when someone tried to grow a mullet and was told that I had him beat hands down and the kid would never beat me. He shaved it all off by next the week.

I think the biggest reason for mullets getting the bad rep is cuz of the low IQ rednecks, hillbillies, and hics (espically all the listed who lack a lick of common sense). They have a tendancy of sporting mullets and thus add a bad look to the mullet. This is my thought and the reason for the bad rep for the mullet.

Yeah in middle school and highschool i had long hair(most of the time, not all) and people always called it a mullet. A mullet DOES NOT MEAN that all you hair is long and the back just looks longer. It means shorter in the front and long in the back.

Yeah I suppose that medium hair has all been classified as Mullet, oh and Billgar your hair was not long, but more medium. I think the other thing with the mullet is that it is just not a decent looking thing in real life.

Yeah we got mullet wigs at the UMass v. BC hockey game, and they were not mullets at all. They had the long back sure, but the front was also long as opposed to nearly being buzzed. It was so upsetting. That said... the rednecks have took over the mullet and thus that is why it is uncool.

This only reminds me of girls playing with TK's hair. I'm trying to grow my hair long, but that takes forever. Since I am technically 1/8 redneck (as in deep south, backwoods resident), a mullet is nothing new to me (I would rather be bald though). I think some women's hairstyles are based off the mullet, but it only looks like it. Probably some ancient offshoot of it.

I used to have hair for about a month that resembled a mullet and i HATED it because it didn't look good on me. i guess some people are just born with the look.

as for the mullets, I doubt you shaved the sides of your head. If you did and the next time you sleep over in my guest room, dont be surprised to find the rest of your hair gone too....

HEY - get a room.

Taking off someone's hair is mean. My friend was shaven bald and eyebrows dyed blond at a party he passed out at (idiot). It takes a while to grow back. Although the mullet in the above picture can be made into something else, just don't gel the hair up.

Koku, Drieton is okay. Its normal banter back and forth from RL. The problem is that others dont know that. I will speak to him in person so that others dont misinterpret what is being said. ;)

Beanbaker, losing your hair does suck. Takes a long time to get it back. Esp if you had lengthy hair. Bleaching hair also can cause some long term damage to your hair to. Hope things worked out for the best for your friend.

1) offensive as in RACIALLY offensive, which is a big no no here.
2) Loosing hair stinks, but we do lose 300 strands every day or so. You just notice them when you stay in the same area. I for one have medium hair and can feel the new hair growing in in replace to the hair that fell out. they are very pointy.
3) Mullets are usually hard to fix and that kid is lucky he has hair in the front to part or somethign to become unmulletfied.

So has anyone seen any crazy mullets in real life by chance? Billgar, you live in a big city, you must have seen one or two by now.

I think I seen a couple, but they are scary so I forget them pretty quickly. Mullets are not somethign I try to find, as such I probably seen a few but did not pay any attention to them.

I know who who are talking about. She has a place to live even though everyone first thinks she is homeless. She picks through the trash for bottles and cans (literally), doesnt know what a shower is, much less a bar of soap, and is very loud. She will start talking to anyone who is willing to stand there and listen to here. Actually, you dont need to be listening. just make eye contact and she will approach you to and start talking rubbish about random things. its bad.

That is bad, but please try to be nicer about it. Still, she is definately mullet worthy going by today's standards. It is sometimes funny seeing a female mullet, but this may not be one of those times, I think it would just be sad.

NO! A female mullet is never funny! NEVER! My first PoliSci teacher had a mullet this year, and she was horrible. I mean hers was the first class I took in my college career... and she missed the first day due to "scheduling problems." Not to mention that she had super gray skin and we all thought that she used a certain... METHod to grade.

my hair is lengthening out. i have decided to grow it pretty long again so i will most likely have a mullet of sorts at some point. i will be sure to take pictures if thats how it ends up :D

Well you will only have a mullet if you decide to cut your front short, so if you do not do that you will be fine.

yea i know and my hair technically will not be a mullet but if i push my hair back the right way at a certain length it resembles a mullet. weel just have to see how it comes out

you are letting your hair grow out again? Hopefully now that you are a bit older and with a few hairs on your chin, you wont look like a girl. I had a hard time telling if you were a boy or a girl the first time I met you a couple years back. It was pretty funny really.

Well that is... nice. Man if I were to grow out my hair I would be fine, I have a soul patch so I would just look slightly hippie or Jazzy (If I were to go bold and pony tail it especially). Still I doubt I can get away with that. Also, I would hate for people to think I had a mullet, but there may be one thing worse. With the emo there is now, we may eventually see the reverse mullet where the front is obnoxiously long and the back is short.

or even worse, the fohawk. or how ever you spell it. They gel the long front hair into a triangle and have it go down there face. I think its stupid and yet seen it pulled off with any sort of dignity or grace. Might as well pin a raccoon tail to your forehead

That is not a fohawk, and it does not seem very possible to do. It would just be some new weir thing that would probably end with you getting gel in your eyes. A fohawk has to go from the front of the head to the back of the head. However a mullet is just short in the front, long in the back, so you can switch that, it would just be so ugly.

I guess the emos here in maine have the fohawk wrong. they call thier mess of gelled hair in thier face a fohawk. one guy came close to pulling it off. he had a long mohawk and would play with it. One day would be straigh up and spiked, another done in his face, and another dday it would be gelled back. depended on his mood really.

Please refrain from leading into a private convo, and secondly, I think anyone who can gel his hair up high must have somewhat impressive hair I guess. Apprently one of my friends knew someone who is in the Guiness book of records for having the longest mohawk. Which leads to a question on what is worse, mohawk or mullet?

Well mullets are bad, but why have a Mohawk either. What significance does a mohawk have that a mullet does not. To me it is just a way to try to make yourself seem like a punk due to the stigmas attached to them. Then again, I have always been more for the plain then the overly done. Still, please give reasons for what you say.
