Chapter One
A Funeral

The sun ignited the sky fire-red as it set.  The waves spoke softly against the weathered rocks.  The trees bowed softy to the cool breeze.  The tonsor carry on their usual foraging before dusk.  Some lump bird have decided to take an evening swim to ease off the tensions of the day.  Children hang lazily in trees, trying to escape the heat, while their busy parents prepare their homes for supper, and to board up for the night.

Despite the peace of the area, an ominous box is seen on the shore of a nearby, yet lonely, beach.  Here, the sereneness is only amplified, as the few silent figures circulate around the box.  Dressed in black, everyone there is oblivious to the peaceful summer day end.  No words are spoken.  A woman is heard gently crying, and a small child looks around in confusion.

The coffin is lit by fire, and pushed out into the water.  A bagpipe plays forbidden tunes.  The coffin soon grows ablaze, and thereafter sinks.  Everyone leaves, except one.

"A true Northlander burial.  A friend once, too bad his greed got the better of him,"  I mutter to myself.  "I wonder when they are getting here..."
Schmall

Walking up behind Beanbaker, Schmall reaches up and places a hand on the man's arm (hard to reach those high up shoulders) and says, "I have lost family myself.  It is hard."
Schmall

(ooc: BUMP!  wanted to bring this to attention to all the others at the sametime.  This RP has been out for sometime.  I know the invaders are out there and all.  Beanbaker has been wanting to do this for sometime.
shatteredmischief

I approach quietly... I sit down without saying a word and watch the ripples form in the water.... A tear falls down my face, I refuse to wipe it away. "Death is always bitter sweet" I say to myself
Tigereyz85

I watched the funeral from afar out of respect...I did not know the decesed, so to partake in their grief would offend my gods.....After the mass had departed, and only a few were left on the beach, I walk up to the edge of the water with my basket of items. My basket is made of willow. In the basket I have a peice of clothing from the deceased lining the bottom. I have Birch bark with a prayer written on it, Elder Berries, Lotus pods, Periwinkle, and poppy seeds. I set the basket in the water and light it on fire the same way the pyre was. As it floats out into the water, I say a chant in my ancient language that translates:

"God Of the Sun, The Holy one who brings us light
Goddess of the moon, Diana of the hunt, bringer of rest and renewal,
I stand before you in a dark time,
And entrust to your great care my light -
(name of deceased), whose smile was brighter than the sun,
Whose delight was in things both great and small,
Who loved completely, and was loved completely.

"I pray you welcome him/her into the Summerlands,
And that he/she might rest in your great house.
I pray you guide him/her to his/her family,
That they may be together in paradise.
I pray you keep me strong in this dark time of mine,
And grant me the strength to live without him/her
As he/she would have bid me do.
Grant all the strength to live with his/her loss,
For there were many who loved him/her,
And many will speak his/her name with fondness"

after watching the last of the basket and herbs burn, I turn to Beanbaker and hand him a sachet made from another swatch of cloth of the deceased. "this will help aid with your healing. You may hurt....but it's good to grieve. This will help you when you're ready to be happy that he/she is in a better place. Soak this in hot water and drink it." (inside the satchet is Baisil, Comfrey, lemon Balm, and Mint.) "Also...plant this by your door...As it grows, you will grow to accept the death." (hands him lavender). I then go to the four corners (north, south, east, and west) and ring my bell three times to discourage the spirit from lingering to console their loved ones.
Beanbaker

"Thank all of you for coming, and for your concerns, but he was nothing more than a friend to me, and his ambitions of slaying an ancient dragon got the best of him, in which he left me for dead. ."

I turn to face the others.  No emotion is on my face, and dried blood is spattered on my armor.

"Now then, let us get straight to the point.  A once-respected captain has betrayed many and is now a curse to the people here.  He has been reported of pillaging towns and other ships.  This isn't a task given by the emperor, but it is something that must be done nonetheless."

I look to the sea again.

"Your task is simple.  Take down the pirate, Captian McFarn.  Come with me, a ship is waiting for your departure to his flagship."

____________________________________________________________________

The sun now gone from the horizon, only an inferno is left in the sky, turning into a cool blue and violet.  It is a new moon, evident from its absence in the sky.

The dock is covered in shambled crates and charred pieces of wood.  Various fishing vessels line the dock, almost half of them half-sunk from abandonment and disuse.  I board the vessel, and bow my head toward the captain, an old man with a hump, result of a back injury, and one eye is gray from cataracts.

"Come on aboard.  We will take you as far as the ship.  Ask any questions you have now, it will be a few moments before we arrive."
Tigereyz85

I shall be right back....I must go find some Ginger root...I will gladly come....but I get awfully sea sick......(after getting a bag of ginger root, a cup, and a flask of water, and all my supplies I board the ship) So...where's my bunk?
Schmall

With a nod of respect to the caption and then a shrug to his questions, Schmall gracefully begins scaling the rigging to reach the crow's nest with only one hand for the other holds Solomon the whole way up.  There he stations himself to keep an eye out for trouble, and to enjoy the view
Beanbaker

"Oh don't worry too much about that, just put them anywhere, we are leaving soon.  Once we arrive alongside the ship, there will be an entrance into one of the unused storage rooms, and there you can rest some, but I would advice you take as little time as possible."

The captain of the fishing boat pops up from below, and in a raspy voice, he says,  "Is everyone aboard?"

"Yes, everyone is here."  I point to a spot on the map lining a small makeshift table, made from a barrel labeled PICKLED LIZARD in a fading red color.  The captain nods, and takes the wheel.  A sail immediately folds down, and catches a slight breeze.  The ship creeks under the stress, but manages to crawl through the black waters.  Some fowl land on the sides of the ship, pecking off the sea creatures that have mounted themselves to the sides of the boat.

"So, any other questions?"
shatteredmischief

I place my bag next to me and begin to look around. "Where are we going?"
Beanbaker

"The exact location is the Reef Inlet, a small island, and McFarn's ship is only a stone's throw off the coast.  You won't be going on the island, but to the ship itself.  There is an inside man that I have met with who has lowered a rope to your entrance.  You may meet him, whether he chooses to join you or escape."

I look up to Schmall.  "Let me know when you see something.  Some fog is rolling in, but there is enough light to see the ship.  You cannot miss it."

Some fish are swimming by the boat, and playfully jump out of the surface of the water alongside the boat.
Schmall

"SHIP!!  That way," Schmalls down while point straight ahead,  "If we kill all our lights we may be able to sneak up on them in this fog.  Its thier lights that I see."  Schmall remains up where he is at and sends Sparky out to investigate for him.
Beanbaker

The old captain of the fishing vessel puts out the lanterns on board.  He goes below deck and pulls out two oars.  The movement of the boat has ceased.

The captain throws one of the oars to Beanbaker.  "Ye better get rowing.  I ain't riskin' my life and doin' all the work."

As the two men paddle carefully, to not break the relative peace and quiet, the ship crawls through the water.

The fog parts, and a massive floating ship is seen.  The sides gleam with ivory sides, lined with shiny bronze plates.  Many portholes slightly protrude from the sides, and massive pieces of artillery stick out in a threatening mood.  Noises can be heard, the sounds of sailors rejoicing above.

The boat approaches a single lone rope, seemingly in the middle of nowhere, but stretches up to the bow of the ship, a good twenty foot climb.

"This is where you will enter the ship.  I'm sorry I cannot join you, but my vendetta with McFarn is not something I wish to plague myself with.  Once inside, your main objective is to take down McFarn by any means, and the rest is up to you."

I pick up Shattered and Tiger's bags and hand it to them.  Both seem heavier than previously thought.

"Now go up the rope.  We must not stay here long, or they will find us.  I'll cover your escape when you are done."
Schmall

Schmall leaps from the crow's nest for the enterance the rope leads to.  He lands lightly and rolls to his feet, holding Solomon ready in case of trouble.  Sparky swoops in and lands on Schmall's shoulder without a sound.  There they wait for the rest of the party.
Tigereyz85

I shoulder my pack and climb as quickly as possible after schmall.....I peek over the deck to see if there's anyone there
Beanbaker

With all three on the ship, the fishing boat below leaves without a sound.  The inside of rendezvous point was exactly what was described - almost.  It was a dank, but large, storage room.  Covered in mold and various mosses of different shades of yellow, sucking the life out of the waterlogged woodwork.  One man is seen laying on the ground, asleep in a drunk stupor.  It is evident he is an alcoholic, his clothes disheveled and face unshaven.  Surrounded by non-labeled, brown-tinted whiskey and rum bottles, he twitches at the rhythm of his stupor of a dream.  He is sleeping peacefully and heavily, evident from his loud snoring.

As the three warriors walk inside, a loud noise is heard.  With a loud "DONG!", the three turn to see a scroll has fallen from Tiger's bag of provisions.  Schmall reflexively turns to see the drunkard moan a little, then roll over and fart.

At the end of the storage room is the aluminum door to the corridor.  The man's legs and various empty and half-empty bottles sparsely dot along the floor in front of the passage.
Schmall

knowing that stealth is everything at the moment, Schmall signals for tiger to take care of the scroll just before he pounces on the drunk.  He gags and ties the man securely before he can even let out a squeak.  After stuffing the drunk under his bed and tieing him to it, Schmall stands back up and sees what the women wish to do.
Tigereyz85

I pause a moment and rummage through my pack. I pull out my sexiest dancing dress, my best shoes, and some rouge.....Right there infront of everyone I change out of my traveling clothes, and with the grace of someone who is expeirenced , I easily change and apply the makeup in the dark. I put my traviling clothes back in my pack, and ask schmall to hold it....I then whisper to everyone " from the noise we're hearing, and the looks of this guy here, they're all have some fun diving into the rum. Let me go ahead, and you guys back me up....stay hidden...this is a job for a woman!!" I make sure the "girls" are in the right place, smooth out the wrinkles in my dress, run a hand through my hair, grab a nip off the bottle of rum on the floor, and start to sashe down the hall to the door. I take a deep breath and open the door, prepaired to give the preformance of a lifetime!
Schmall

Noting that Tiger completely ignored the dropped scroll, Schmall scoops it up and inspects it.  He keeps an ear open just in case the woman has any trouble.
Beanbaker

Tiger swiftly swings the door open, and a mere second after, "WHAM!", followed by the faint vibration of the door's recoil.  An imprint of what seems to be a chin protrudes from the door.  Tiger peers behind the door, and a fully uniformed man is laying on the other side completely unconscious with a dislocated jaw and a broken nose.  By his insignias, he is one of the higher ranking officers aboard.  That and the fact he was carrying a gilded gladius.  Tiger looks down both ends of the corridor.  It is completely empty despite a few rats scavenging for food.

Schmall opens the scroll.  It is a complete detail of the ship, all of its specifications and a complete map of the four decks.

CURRENT POSITION:  Deck 4 (bottom deck), Storage 3B.  Staircase to Deck 3 to the right 50 meters.  Service staircase to Deck B rudder chamber 80 meters right.

(ooc: to check position, just check the map!)
Tigereyz85

I gasp and check him over...after conferming his unconsiousness, I rummege through his pockets looking for money, information, or anything else that remotly intrests me....."Psst....I think this uniform might look good on you Schmall!!" I comment slyly.....Compleatly Joking. Schmall's short stature would have been lost amungst the clothing of the very tall ship mate.
Schmall

Schmall silently catches up to Tiger, taking his time to enjoy the sights though, and whispers, "this map of the ship was in your pack.  why didnt you mention this before?  anyways, it says there is a stairs going up over that way and we should go that way," Schmall gestures in the direction of the stairs.  He then notices the downed man.  With a smile he comments, "nice work there?  Did you stun him with your looks?"

Schmall scoops up the gladius to figure out what to do with it later (ooc: if we can have it)
Tigereyz85

I glare at schmall with a look that would freeze any self respecting man in their tracks in fear of the thoughts running through my female mind. "I had no idea about that scroll....I never picked it up..." I continue on down the hall and remind the short one..."don't forget...when we get to the party, I'll distract them....They haven't seen a woman since the last time they were in port....plus they're celebrating....I'll distract them and you run the back up"
Beanbaker

As Schmall tries to pick up the gladius, he realizes its securely fastened to his belt under a complex knot, since everyone is drinking alcohol.  It would not be wise to try to untie it, it would just take too much time.  All that was on the officer besides his sword was a picture of a woman and a letter, but it is illegible.

Standing in the corridor, you both can see the stark emptiness of the floor.  All the other storage doors have giant locks on them.  To the right, there is a sign saying STAIR TO DECK 3 and to the left a little farther down you see the handrails to a staircase, but no sign.

(don't forget, just mention to check the map to learn of your location.)
Schmall

With a bow and an exagerrated flourish of his hand, Schmall signals Tiger to go first.  Once she goes by, Schmall rubs Solomon on the down man's dingy clothes in order to prevent it from gleaming in the light as he slips from shadow to shadow.  Solomon pulses disapproval and Schmall whispers, "I apologize Solomon.  It must be done.  I promise to clean and polish you after this mission."  Solomon still disapproves, but ceases the pulsing.  Schmall then begins to silently slip from shadow to shadow, following Tiger with expert ease.  Sparky disappears in the folds of the cloak's hood as Schmall pulls the hood up on the better conceal himself in the shadows.
shatteredmischief

I wake up from sleeping and notice that I my companions are no longer besides me... I run until I see Schmall in the distance... I continue to sloftly run, making sure not to make too much noise, I catch up to Schmall and whisper to him "whats going on?"
Schmall

"Dont stay near me!" harshly whispers Schmall, surprised that shatter saw him in the shadows as she di.  "Follow Tiger and watch her back.  Follow her lead.  Ignore me."

Schmall ducks back into the shadows, allowing Shatter to advance ahead of him.  He fixes his cloak so that his armor does not shine.
shatteredmischief

I walk slowly behind Tiger and whisper to her that it is only me. "What do you want me to do?" I whisper to Tiger
Tigereyz85

"Put on some of this rouge, and doll yourself up the best you can...We're going to divide and concour!!! I'll take the captin, and his gang of ruffiens...there the one's used to being incharge...you take the lower level guys...they'll be less likly to force themselves on you before schmall can kill them."
shatteredmischief

I do what Tiger tells me, I reach into my bag and pull out a short dress. I put some makeup on follow Tiger's lead till we split between the two groups of men
Beanbaker

The party divides itself, Tiger and Shattered going one way as Schmall goes another.

(ooc: Please specify your directions!  Who's going left or right?)
Schmall

Before any of the girls manage to get away, Schmall grabs each and points them in the direction of the next set of stairs leading up according to the map.  Once they get going in the same direction together, he once again begins to shadow them.
shatteredmischief

I walk behind Tiger up the set of stairs, once up there we decide who will go which way
Beanbaker

Tiger and Shattered head up the staircase leading to Deck 3.  The cleanliness has increased dramatically, if it weren't for the few crew members rolling another down the hall in a barrel.  At the top of the staircase there is a guard standing at attention.  His vision is fixed on the opposite wall.  In his belt he carries common knives, but each one is more decorated than the last.  He says nothing, yet does not look.
shatteredmischief

I try to casually walk past him, I act like I know where I'm suppose to be and where I'm going
Beanbaker

Without any hesitation, or for that matter, any emotion, a monotone voice quietly mumbles, "State where you are going."

Shattered turns to see the man, still in his stoic position, staring at the wall.  His expression has not changed, but from a different angle, you can see torture and hatred in his eye.  The other one, is covered by a black patch, and just underneath is his cheekbone, bashed in from blunt trauma.  He makes no movements, but on his back is a bow, but the arrows are hidden under his cloak, but you can see parts of his uniform.

Again, without emotion, "State where you are going."
shatteredmischief

"To entertain the men" I state as I point towards a group of men I notice, looking at me and Tiger
Beanbaker

The man slowly turns his head and looks at you straight in the eye.  For a few moments, his gives off a piercing glance, as if looking into one's soul.  He then turns to look at Tiger, then to stare at a shadowed corner at the end of the hallway, squinting, as if he is trying to focus on something.  He then returns to his normal view of staring at the wall.

"Continue... whatever it is you're here for." He says in a scratchy, yet still droning, voice.

The group of men Shattered pointed at approaches her and Tiger.  Most of them are clearly intoxicated.

"He-*huccup*-ey, what's your... *hiccup* name?"  Crewman 1 says, holding a bottle of rum while leaning on his long sword for support.

Crewman 2 is shaking a little, and his speech is hasty and preoccupied.  His insignia shows he is a recruit.  "Wha-Wha-What are they doin' here?  If the captain sees them, he'll have our heads for sure!  We're breaking the traditions here!"

As crewman 3 leans against the wall half-conscious, crewman 1 puts his arm on crewman 2's shoulder.  "You're being a *hiccup* suspicious Sally, and he *hiccup* doesn't have to know... *hiccup*... Now, would you ladies care for a *hiccup* drink?"
shatteredmischief

I turn towards Tiger and wink at her. "Well" I say as I grab one of their bottles of rum "Dont mind if I do have a drink with you" I say as I take a sip off of the bottle... I walk slightly past them so that they have to turn more at an angle to see me. I take another sip of rum and say "Now what do you boys know about having a good time?"
Beanbaker

You get no response.  The first crewman is just staring at you with glazed eyes, the second crewman is looking around in a paranoid fashion, and the third crewman is keeled over, vomiting around a corner.  You can see just past the second crewman, down the hallway, there is a door that says KEEP OUT on it.
shatteredmischief

I continue to talk and flirt with them, I hold on to the bottle of rum and lean on the side of the ship. "So can I get a tour of the ship?"
Schmall

Realizing trouble is at hand, Schmall springs into action.  He darts forward to flip the knife bearing man's cloak (the one with arrows behind his cloak) up over his face to stifle his scream of pain, steps under his swinging arms to get in front of him in order to chop his throat out with Solomon.

Sparky flies off Schmall's shoulder to peck at the man's hands to discourage him from going for a weapon.
Beanbaker

As Schmall runs toward the stoic man, he hears him mutter, "I am not your enemy..."

Schmall flies towards the man's legs, but he jumped back in time to only be pushed back.  Schmall adjusts Solomon's trajectory to strike at the neck, but the cloaked man pulled out an arrow to deflect the blow, but only to have the arrow snapped in half and Solomon strike the man's shoulder.

The cloaked man took 132 damage.

"You have bad aim.  You strike at areas worth protecting.  What is worth destroying to you, is worth protecting to me."

He pulls out his bow with his left hand.  It is a common bow, but with insignias carved to show ownership and kill count.  There are 14 carvings after a letter "C".  With his right hand, he pulls out a pitch-black arrow.

"Let me show what you should be aiming at..."

He pulls back on the bow and releases the arrow.  Schmall, not seeing a bow in ages, only looks on in a suspended stupor.  The arrow flies right by his head, right past the left ear with a deafening whistle, and with a *fwit*, the arrow hits its mark.  Schmall turns to see Crewman 1 with an arrow right between the eyes.

Crewman 1 takes 64 damage and dies.

The cloaked man looks at all.  "If you wish to get out of here alive, follow me."

He runs to the left of the staircase, the opposite direction of the KEEP OUT door.  He climbs up another staircase, where he waits for you.  The rookie, Crewman 2, draws his knife and Crewman 3 raises his fists.
Schmall

"Well, lets see where this goes then uh?" says Schmall outloud as he shrugs.  "Sorry for the attack.  No one can be too careful.  Guess we will sort the friend or foe thing later."

Schmall casually stabs at the knife bearing crewman (#2) only to take a quick step forward and thrust Solomon forward with all speed as the man hops back.  "Ladies," says Schmall with relaxed ease, "would you be so kind as to follow the gentleman as I deal with these ruffians."

Schmall then steps forward to deliver a swift kick into the balls of whichever guard is left standing (I perfer #2, but #3 if #2 is dead).  Sparky flies forward, lands on #3's head, grasping his hair, and begins pecking down over on his head with his sharp, bug killing beak!!
shatteredmischief

I walk over to the man, a little uneay, watching his hands with every step that I take
