Oh, the PSP!

I decided that PSPs are fantastic! They are like awesome little mini computers that once hacked have true potential! Custom firmware makes all types of awesome games from back in the day playable plus modern ones as well.

Plus you can set it up to be region free and life fells good! Recently i upgraded the custom firmware on my psp, and burnt the memory card in the process. While this is discouraging, the machines new potential most certainly is not!!

PS3? Is this a typo?
Archaic

yeah he meant PSP, and I was talking to him as he ruined his card.. it was unfortunate, especially considering that he had so many games he wanted to play.

I must agree though as I LOVE my Pirating System Portable. I get to play all those great Japanese games that have no chance of coming stateside.. like most anime ones!
Lord_Obagon

Personally I just rom any game that I can't get already on my computer. Though that is mostly since I don't do portable gaming much, even my DS is mostly used near my computer and I always have my laptop. The PSP is great though and they have a lot of things for it on the PSN network (the PS3's online thing).

yes it was a typo, my hand must have accidentally slipped and hit the 3 instead of the p.....cuz they.......are......so close? on a keyboard?
Delilah

I would love to ship my PSP to you and have you make it epic and ship it back. XD
Billgar

Rofl, whiel i wouldnt necessarily, mind, the chance of destroying a psp in the process is rather high, also for it to work it must be an original edition psp.
Delilah

Nevermind then. I love my PSP too much.
Beanbaker

I'm sure you all know the fragile, tender soul that is the PSP.  Those things can break pretty easily, compared to something like the DS, which you can drop it on a hard surface and still run okay, but the PSP's screen breaks most often (due to carelessness ahahaha)

I wonder what sony would say if you sent in a hacked PSP filled with roms?
Billgar

Well the roms would be in the memory card, so that wouldnt affect them as i would keep it. Also the person working on it would probably just be an idiot and think i was running an old firmware, and then update it.. . . ..fools!
Archaic

Putting on a custom firmware is NOT illegal and does not technically violate the warranty. If the person did catch on that you had one, they may put on the latest legit release, or just go about their business not giving a crap about doing the extra work.

Also BB, I realize that the PSP is more delicate than other portable systems, but it also has a lot more accessories to protect against damage, and thus only an idiot could really break it.
Billgar

I agree with arch on the durability factor. A psp can break more easily, however its a massively powerful minicomputer. If you drop it you should ahve the same feeling as if you jsut dropped your precious laptop down a flight of stairs. Its just not made for children, like the nintendo products.
Archaic

Yeah Billgar definitely has that right. Besides, just look at the way a psp looks compared to a DS. Now I am an owner of both systems, and I still think the DS is only meh and looks like it doesnt matter if you dropped it or not. However, the PSP actually looks like a piece of modern technology (down to the shiny black) and due to this you actually feel guilty if it gets mucked up or if you drop it.
Beanbaker

My friend used his psp mainly as an mp3 player, and second for gaming.  He broke his just for sitting down a wrong way while it was in his pocket, and the screen cracked.  Looking at psp's before I never saw any of the safety things that keep it safe...er...  Are they not promoted as much, or are they just third-party company products (like mad catz)?
Billgar

There are third party and first party, and a large assortment to choose from.

Archaic, i will have to go against you on appearance, as the look and feel of the DS(aesthetically) is similar to a mac, i think they did the right thing.
Delilah

They are rather fragile. I've got a carrier for mine that holds all my games and charger as well.
I definitely think that PSP is more targeted towards an older demographic while the DS goes both ways.
Billgar

Well, I feel all nintendo products are targeted towards a younger demographic. However, it is just like play-doh, its designed for children but adults can enjoy it too. Its just when you get older you realize that it isnt food.
Delilah

Exactly. I love the smell of playdoh.
