A nicely covered carriage arrives. It is light brown in coloring and the man who is driving it is dressed in a very clean hakama.

"Good evening! I suppose that you must be the group going hunting? Very well then! That will be 20GC each, just pay then jump in the back!"

*he smiles wholeheartedly*

*Hands over the money* "Alright, this should be fun. Am I safe to assume we will be catching our own game?"

Koku

Sure, with that I hand him the 20gc and then walk slowly to the back of the carriage. I am not too excited but more curious how this will go, and if there is a chance of encountering something bigger than a lump bird.

Archaic

*hands over the money*
I apologize for my tardiness, but I was making some dinner.

Billgar

"Ah yes! Well gentlemen you shall indeed be catching your own game out in the vast plains of Nocte! where the lumpbirds thrive during the night! I will come back to pick you up after you have had your fun for a while!"

"Though it should be pretty safe as its only lumps and a few herds of Lacrimabilis out there, if you whistle for me i should come to get you."

Beanbaker

"Well then," I climb into the wagon "I wish the best of luck, and I hope none of you get beaten by those birds." I laugh in my mind at the sight.

Koku

"Sure, so any rules that should be known? I do not want to violate anything."

Archaic

*Archaic remains silent at Beanbaker's comment and examines his sword closely. It has seen only but a few battles and spilled the blood of only guilty men, but now it it shall slay many innocent lumpbirds. The thought does not make him unnerved however, instead a very slight smile creeps along his face.*

"No rules so to speak........
You can do whatever you want when you are out there really. I wont lie, they are hard to catch alive, but people have been known to get some good items from them."

With that he drives off with the carriage leaving you out on the plains.

Beanbaker

"I would propose we keep from killing each other at least. This is more recreation, and somewhat of a treasure hunt, and not a soul fest. Agreed?"

Archaic

*Archaic begins to head in a north-eastern path and makes sure to tread slowly, but stops after 20 feet and realizes that maybe this wasn't the smartest of ideas. He stands in his spot for about a minute trying to find which way the wind is blowing.*

Hey you guys know which direction the wind is? Oh and I agree that killing each other is the last thing we should do, as it will just take time away from hunting.

Pausing in his tracks archaic hears a noise

*fwut fwut*
*fwut fwut*
*fwut fwut*
*fwut fwut*

Looking over, a lump bird merges from a low laying shrub.

Archaic

*Silent, Archaic notices the bird and thinks about what to do, slowly pulling out his weapon and begins to copy the sound of the bird*

"fwut fwut, fwut fwut, fwut fwut"

*If the bird approaches any closer Archaic plans to slice at the bird with his greatsword.*

IT squats down and apparently begins to sleep. 3 more lump birds emerge form the brush.

Archaic

*Archaic lunges over and gives a broad swing aiming for the sleeping bird and its group. He knows he can only hit one, but at least this way he can have a chance of scaring the others to the point where they freeze.*

"I may as well tell you guys that I found some. Not like you couldn't tell already, but I figured I shall be nice for now."

Koku

Looking at Archaic I notice he found some birds but decide to go another route. Going quickly but quietly I find a small tree to get some height advantage. I start to look for a few lump birds of my own.

Beanbaker

I do the same, heading in the opposite direction, towards a an area with thinner trees and a few more shrubs.

*as archiacs swings down his great sword, the lump birds blow a faint yellow, and his sword bounces back*

*Koku climbing into the tree finds himself face to face with a lump bird. Staring him down for a moment, it opens its beak almost in a yawn and goes back to sleep.*

Archaic

*As his blade bounced back, so did Archaic's footing. He forgot all about these bird's powers! There is no way that they feel endangered now, but perhaps something can irritated.. or perhaps Archaic can gather them using an other tactic... Archaic begins to look for some insects while moving towards the bushes*

"If I can only find a few than all of this will be much easier" is all that Archaic mumbles to himself.

Koku

'You know I really hate this lump bird guy. I don't want lazy lump birds but whatever." With that I quickly approach the lump bird and grab hold of it. Grabbing it tight enough to not let it go, by not too tight that it dies, I make sure one hand is kept around its beak too.

Beanbaker

I get out of sight, but not earshot, of Koku and Archaic. I start rustling bushes and shaking trees, hoping to gain some idea of where the bird are.

Billgar

*Bean goes off to the area with the thinner trees, and it too has lump birds, a whole pack of then about 12!*

*archaic finds nothing*

*the lump bird bites koku*

Angered I take out my scythe an chop down this lump bird who attacked me when it freed its beak up

Archaic

*Archaic gives up his search and instead walks over to the middle of the pack of lumpbirds he saw earlier. He had no insect, but he also does not have any animosity towards them either... now that he realizes his attacks are meaningless at least. Going into the middle of the pack, he sits down calmly and starts smoking his kiseru, hoping that it will make the birds curious*

"Funny little birds you are, but you're not all that bad either, just a little lazy."

Beanbaker

*Quietly going prone, I sneak up, and I think to myself* "Holy s*** thats a lot of birds... I'll rake them in with my sword one by one and put them in my bag."

I reach for the closest, who is alienated, and pull him in with the broad side of my greatsword and scoop him into my bag.

*Koku kills a lump bird*

*archaic sitting peacefully amongst the lump birds notices a pale ovular shape amongst them*

Looking for anything on this lump bird I decide to jump down from the tree and head towards other shrubberies by a small destroyed tree.

Beanbaker

"Aw crap. Left it at the bar, and theres barf in it by now." Since the first bird is sleeping, I move over a little to keep it undisturbed, and I reach for the other sleeping bird, but this time I use my hands, for I'm unsure how asleep it really is.

Archaic

*Archaic picks up the ovular shaped item and looks at it carefully. Placing it in his lap, he continues to sit by the birds and starts to converse with them in a reassuring and friendly voice.*

"fwut fwut fwut fwut... fwut. This is an egg isn't it. I apologize for disturbing it. I shall place it in front of me for now, but please do not kill it. But anyways, this is a good plain isn't it."

*Archaic continues to speak softly and throws in a fwut every now and then. This journey was already worth it for the egg and thus he decides to takes things easy for now.*

*archaic obtains a lump egg*

*bean baker picks up the lump bird it continues to sleep soundly*

*After moving off a bit more Koku discovers a particularly plump lump bird*

Koku

"hi there fat lump bird, what do you have you eaten?" I go up to it and grab it, measuring its weight to see if it ate anything unusual, and to restrain it from getting away.

Beanbaker

*To himself* "Awesome, two birds, just one more. Don't want to be greedy just in case. Then I'll determine which birds are best to sell and those to kill off."

The next bird I try for is looking the opposite way and is either seeing no threat in me or doesn't know I'm there. I quietly squat over and grab with my hands.

*The bird seems quite full and bloated, and a little heavier than usual.*

"Fwor Fwor" it fwuts

Archaic

*Archaic reaches over to the group of lumpbirds and places about 3 of them in his lap. Still smoking from the kiseru, he begins to pet the birds. No longer was he trying to comfort the birds, now it was more like the birds were comforting him. It was unreal and he was beginning to enjoy it. Looking behind him he notices that there is nothing there and thus he lays down continuing to pet the birds while looking for insects that may be by his head*

"Ah, this much be tranquility. You little birds actually have a good life here. fwut fwut fwut fwut."

*Archaic than begins to laugh to himself while continuing to pet the lumpbirds.*

Koku

As I hold the bird I open its beak to try to get a look inside. I wonder if it will really have something shiny in it or if it is just fat. If it does not bite me from that I try the heimlich maneuver to see if it will spit out an object if it has one.

Beanbaker

"Fwor fwor to you too" I keep it in my arms, as I walk around the birds to pick up the other two gathered before, which are still sleeping. I place them under a large heavy dead branch to prevent them from getting away, and I wake up the other birds by rubbing their eyelids. Then, I place my hand right in front of their beaks and feint a slap to test their attitudes.

[to clear thing sup the fwor was from the bird koku is holding and bean has only closed in on one bird which he is currently holding]

*the lump bird being held by koku fwuts then vomits all over him. After doing so, it runs off quick energetically for a lump bird. Dripping in blue slime Koku looks quick disgusting*

*koku obtained slimy solvent*

Koku

"Argh that is so disgusting!" With that I look for another bird, possibly to get revenge.

Archaic

*Getting no where with this approach, Archaic empties his kiseru and puts it away. Getting up he pets the birds again and starts to walk towards the brush in the direction of a group of trees. He looks back to see if the birds are following him, or atleast just staying where they are at.*

"The hippie approach may only go so far I suppose."

(as archaic get up he notices yet another egg on the ground, two actually)

*bean baker is holding a lump bird*

*koku has no sucess*

Koku

I move to more greenery quietly and look around calmly to see if I find anything.

Beanbaker

"Okay, now to see your temper." I start ruffling feathers and clasping its beak with my fingers, to see its reaction.

Billgar

It starts to scratch and bite at you but cant hurt you through that damn armor.

Archaic

*Archaic picks up the two eggs and puts them away carefully next to the other egg and his kiseru. Thinking that he may be near a breeding ground, he just continues walking along the path, however after a few steps he looks back and sees nothing. Getting on his knees and digs away at the ground and continues to dig at a fierce pace until the whole is as deep as his arm. Putting his foot in, he digs at the sides of the walls and stomps at the bottom until the hole is safe. He walks back to the lumpbirds he was with earlier and picks them up. Talking to them soothingly he walks back to the hole and places the birds in there for safe keeping. He continues walking following the path he started before digging the hole.*

"Stay there little birds."

All three travelers turn their head as the carriage approaches.

"Well it seems like you had a productive day!"
