OrbsNow that the orb mechanics has changed around a bit, I have a couple of questions that have been bugging me all week.
Since you need to stabilize your weapon by soothing its strain with another orb, just how many are you allowed in one weapon?? You can just add the Ultrbalm and it would never break from what I can figure.
Second, if the lavamax orb was to break a weapon, would the orb be gone too?? If so, that is a nasty gamble for GC is hard enough to come by in quantity, much less a whole MC coin.

Okay, let me answer all of these excellent questions.
There is no limit to how many orbs a weapon can take and the amount of strain that it can take is dependant upon which weapon it is. For example, if it has never been used, a sharpening orb may break a wooden sword right off the bat! Ultrabalm does indeed remove all strain that has accumulated on the weapons so far, but in order to use the lavamax i would suggest being 100% positive that
a.) the weapon was fairly strong to begin with(such as a gilded weapon or something close)
You can get away with using it on lesser weapons but the chances of it breaking go up much higher.
b.)there is very little to absolutely no strain on the weapon
c.) you have plenty of ARENA experience with it
Examples
Gilded Gladius, 5 kills in the ARENA, no strain - about a 99% chance of not breaking from the lavamax
Wooden sword, 10 kills in the arena, no strain- about a 15% chance of not breaking from lavamax
Seafarer's cutlass, o use, no strain- 100% chance of breaking from lavamax

That means if you want a certain weapon in the long run, you better get it ASAP then!! in that case, is it possible to sell my katana back to the merchants for some of my money back. I would settle even for 50% for no one active will want a simple katana really.

I wish it was possible to sell items back like that. I would have a little bit more money on me right now. I think ever since the market place opened up it is not though.

thats fine. I can sell it off sometime. I can still purchase the weapon i realllly want. I will do everything I can to upgrade it. Already sent a PM to billgar to be sure i am imagining the weapon's size, use, and intent correctly. If I am thinking the same as billgar is, I am going to get it. the katana will be good for back up if need be for whatever reason
EDIT: avoiding a double post here, but would the Ultrabalm prevent the lavamax from breaking a weapon??

You could always try and trade it for something too!! you can see peoples vaults so why no make an offer for a barter?

Also Schmall, by the sounds of it that lavamax can actually break some weapons even if the weapons are at 0% strain. Really, it is just variable on the item that you want to put it on, as Billgar explained above.
