Quest for the Tomb of a Thousand SoulsSitting under a tree in a expansive I gaze at the pages of the time worn parchment in front of me. A recorded legend of a cave off in a distant land said to be the grave of 1000 men, sealed off before the apparent massacre.
"The souls may still be usable.." I utter under my breath. Suddenly being startled, i hear a rustling in the leaves above.

no worries billgar. it's only me. i come to this place for training. the souls here give this place a high mana count, and it is easier to use non-physical attacks.

"yes, the spirits in this area do boost ones energy. I was just reading this parchment about a hidden cave of trapped souls. the entrance seems to be over that mountain range to the east, but the key to actually getting in seems to be far to the west."

"well then lets get going huh? What you do not think I would miss this event do you?" I say as I walk towards Billgar and Kefka. "You know, I am ready for an adventure."

"Sounds great, then let us head to the we...." I trail off as a large bird with crimson wings lands in front of us. sweeping out its wing to strike me, i jump back.

Archaic enters the scene watching as the warriors confront the winged beast. Collecting his thoughts he nonchalantly walks over and helps them attack the foul creature.
"Hows it going guys. I want in on this journey too!"

"that is all fine and good but..." I say as the crimson winged bird approaches. "We are all very busy at the moment." As I say that I jump high into the air while getting the raper of souls from my back. As I stare into the eyes of the bird, I prepare to swing.

As jungle swings, i too unlatch my sword form my side and chop at it, the bird flying up to avoid me, jungle swings and takes off its head.
"Well...that wasnt too hard now was it....." a cawing comes from the distance, and i look off to the east to see a bird much liek the one now slain, only about a hundred times larger.
stumbling i latch my sword back on, and clumbsily start my run westward.

"Run away Run away!" I follow Billgar knowing that there is little chance of me surviving an encounter of that magnitude.

Quickly scooping up the head and putting it inside my mystery bag, I start to follow Billgar. "well that could of went better. However, this just goes to show there may be more to this place then expected. Man, there is no way we can take that thing. I doubt my scythe can cut through even the first layer of feathers."

Finally coming to a wood, i run in, sliding, and going behind a rather large rock
"I think we lost it"

I doubt any of us could. Such a large creature did not get that way by being weak. Fleeing at the moment is by far the best and only option for anybody no matter what the weapon. The only thing that can kill it is death, or maybe a large antacid.

I pull out the head of the bird from the mystery bag. "Well There should be some meat on this head, I am not sure how eager you are to eat it though. It is all I have though. I suppose you can eat the plants around here, but who knows what is edible and what is not.

"I'll take it! One can never let good meat rot you know." ::Snatches the head from Jungle:: "This actually doesn't look too gross. Hrmm I wonder how I should cook it... "::sticks sword in the head:: "Its a bird kabob!" ::Electricity flows from the sword thus cooking the meat. Archaic Messiah takes the head off his blade and wipes the blade clean:: "Sure you don't want some?"

"yeah" but eat while you walk, i would rather if this journey didnt take quite a life time."

"I understand perfectly. A journey should only last so long. Well were should we wonder off to now? I assume that you know the way so I shall follow you."
Archaic gets up while munching on the freshly cooked bird head.
"This could use a little BBQ Sauce but other than that its actually pretty good! You all missed out."

"this paper actually just says that it is to the west of that tree i was under, so your guess is as god as mine, but might as well get going" standing i begin to walk off of the trail and into the brush.

Well I guess that whole chase thing was convenient, I mean it lead us in the right direction and everything. I guess we should be thankful that the beats didn't come from the west and got us off course. Oh yeah I finished the bird's head, here jungle you can take the skull. Maybe you can use it as a hat or something. ::Hands Jungle the bird's skull, eyes and brain still in tact.::

"I believe that we should be on the alert. The worst thing we can do is miss the one important clue that leads to the keys position. Also, to let our guard down is not very smart." I say while looking around, looking for any traces of clues, objects, or life.

Hey wait... where did Kefka go anyways. I saw him before the mother bird came to avenge her chick, but after that he just kinda vanished. He better not have gotten to that key before us!

"that is not possible. Man I am tired..." I say while yawning. "When I seen the birds coming I noticed that he was concentrating heavily on something, and went into a trance, so I decided to put him into my mystery bag. He was pretty heavy." As I say that I pull him out of the bag. "Ah, much better, but I am still tired. When is there going to be more action" I say with a psychotic smile.

kefka hides behind a rock just as archaic looks in his direction. "man, i gotta do somehting. i cant let the power fall into the hands of these imbacils. i guess all i can do now is follow them until they find that key. then, i may be able to sneak off with it... if i play my cards right.

::Appears behind Kefka and pokes him in the back:: "Why are you mumbling to yourself behind this big rock? Are you calling us imbeciles as you plan your betrayal? Just kidding, you would never do that." ::continuously slaps kefka in the back in a friendly way::
"So westward we go, and hopefully we will even get to slay some more monsters! Wouldn't that be great Kefka? hahahaha" ::stops hitting Kefka's back::

"did you say something kefka..." I say while looking around. Be alert, who knows what is around here. Deep in this greenery is the home of some very dangerous creatures you know.

"oh man look at these" points at some small lizards crawling along. "these things are great Ghargs they're called. Man, you dont even have to cook em. just poke em through the heart, and their body heats up doing it for you."
*starts eating*
The bushes rumble up ahead as it appears somehting is charging towards us.

"yes very dangerous indeed." here's my chance. "jungle, you should rub your body down with the fragrance from this fruit. archaic and billgar, you two should do the same. i already have some one myself. it will repel those giant birds." what i didnt mention was that the fragrance attracted cyclops' in heat.

No thanks, we are good. There is no way the giant birds can get us in this deep greenery. Even their claws will have trouble cutting down on the obstacles to get us. We are fine. The thing we have to worry about is the thing coming towards us." With that I jump up into a tree and prepare my reaper of souls, hiding it in the greenery around me.

:;Eating a mass of the lizards:: "Whadya say there Kefka. Why don't you stop rubbing yourself with strange plants and have some yourself. Oh good find Billgar. By the way Kefka, I wouldn't actually put that on my body anyways as it is a very dangerous plant. Aside from attracting cyclops it also has a tendency of making one's skin extremely itchy while tainting one's blood stream if put on an open wound."

"no archaic. you are mistaken. you must have this confused with... another plant." just then a cyclops emerges from the bushes.

::Archaic's body stiffens up and he gets into a battle pose. Quickly unsheathing his lightning edge he examines his enemy while building up the energy in his blade. A rather tall cyclops with what appears to be tough skin. He thinks to himself about his choices, to go for the eye and blind him whilst electrocuting it, or to try to dismember it. Reaching the eye will be tough, but cutting him seems even tougher. Picking up the sword he lunges towards the cyclops' eye with the electricity ready to fry the brain.:: "..."

"BY THE GODS!"
I toss my sword through the air, and it miraculously penetrates the gut of the cyclops, a warm light comes from the back of my ssword returnign strength to my body. the cyclops,however keeps charging.

the cyclops attempts to swat archaic, who dodges at the last second, but went head-first into a tree. now is kefka's opportunity to escape...

"Hahaha trees are hard! Its a good thing I braced for impact before actually hitting it! Also it appears that my electricity did harm that big things eye. Nows your chance Billgar!" ::Falls from the tree and yet manages to land clumsily on his feet.::

"Kefka!" I yell at him. You are not going anywhere! You are not going anywhere. Oh, and do not try any tricks, sand does not affect me anymore, I do not need to see to attack you know." As I say that I pounce quickly down from the tree, just to knock Kefka down, so that I can put him back into the bag. "Stay there until after this beast is beat. Once he is defeated I will take you back out, for only I can get things out of this bag." With that I jump up and spin holding my scythe out so that the blade is on the outside, cutting into the cyclops.

"Okey dokey I guess its time to actually attack this thing now that one of the distractions is gone." ::Once again picking up the edge and building up its power Archaic charges over to the Cyclops giving four simultaneous cuts along the creatures achiles tendons:: die now! ::The creature falls and blood gushes from the wounds. Silently yet swiftly Archaic goes to its neck and swings the blade down decapitating him whilst sending a massive amount of electricity through its body." You can keep the trophy in your bag Jungle."

he beast falls, and its eye rolls from its skull. the body appears dead. picking up the eye, i am amazed to find that "why its made of glass"

"it is you trophy, I do not want it, besides," I say while looking at the head, "It looks heavy," sighing a little bit. "Now for the other problem." I first look around and find vine like branches that I could use for rope, and then open up the mystery bag and grab a hold of kefka. Quickly I tie up his arms and legs, making sure that the was no chance of escape and keep him laying down on his back. "Where were you going, huh? You did not plan to leave when it was getting interesting did you? Explain yourself now!"

"Really let me see let me see! Hey look there seems to be something encased in it.. something round. Maybe its a ball! Oh can we shatter it and see whats inside! Its like a gumball machine thingy!" ::Archaic tries to snatch the glass eye from Billgar, but his efforts prove futile.::

"well... you see..." kefka stumbles to find his voice. "i wanted to join the fight but being in that bag i felt useless. that's all."

"The only reason I bagged you was because you were leaving, heading away from the battle. What was your true intentions huh?" As I say that I approach him closer, with my scythe in my hand, ready for the worst.

"ARCHAIC! i think THIS is the key. You see here, on this parchment, it references the key as "the eye that lets one see the souls" Perhaps we may begin our journey to the east? actually, come to think of it, what was a cyclops doing i this area, there hasnt been reports of any in these woods for decades."

"Either way I think we should break up those two. Jungle leave him alone. He didn't have a weapon to fend the beast off with so of course he was going to run. Besides, it was fun was it not? Also, its not like he could get very far without the key... which the cyclops actually was carrying. No matter what the circumstances this was nothing but beneficial. But Kefka, if we feel that you are hiding anything or trying to impede on our progress, we will kill you.

"Possibly, oh well there is nothing we can do about that, and there is no point in whining. Before heading back let us look for items that can be deemed useful. If there was a cyclops there may be things we can use where he lives. Let us track done his living quarters, and see if it is empty. If so we should see what is good, if it is occupied, then leave the way we came."

as they begin walking, kefka falls down a chute hidden in the ground. his comrades look on as he disappears into the abyss.

"There he goes again doing his disappearing act. Should we follow him or just go on our way I wonder? The pit could be dangerous, but if thats the case there is always kefka to soften the fall. Its up to you two."

"Hm, this could be a dangerous thing. I do not believe it to be safe to follow. If you do decide to, I am afraid I will not follow. While it may be possible to climb down using the vine like branches I found, I am not sure they can support our weight, and may leave us in the same situation as Kefka.

I examen the chute then I take out the bird skull that was left from Archaic's feast. I throw it down and listen. After about four seconds I hear the crack of it breaking. "I do not know about you, but I rather not risk the fall by going down there. I barely heard the crack, and with how big that skull was, it would of been loud.

"I guess it cant be helped. i vote" *pulls his sword out of the cyclop's gut* "that we just start heading east."

"I suppose, I do not want to risk losing another person here. It is not worth waiting for him if he knows where we will be. Remember to move quickly though. Oh, and watch your footing to fall would mean to be eaten alive."

"yes but one thing... I thought that the treasure was westward and now we're going east. Whatever, as long as I can get some more food I'll be happy. Onwards to treasure!"

"no, you seem to be confused, the key was to the east, the cave of souls is to the west beyond the mountain range on the horizon."

"It must of been the battle. Let us rest here for now so that we can recover our strength, and to wait to see if kefka will come out. Until then I will be in hiding, just in case, do not worry, my intentions are all good. I do not want to lose any more allies." With that I kick up dirt to cover my location as I go into hiding.

::Archaic starts to lay down on the ground whilst yawning. His sword is attached to his belt with a strong current moving through it as to prevent others from touching it.:: "I guess a rest will help us out, I just wish that we had some food, but oh well. Lets hope Kefka does return soon."

"You know, I was up, there was no need to kick me. However, I do agree that it is time to go. It is becoming dark out, so it is the perfect time to head out. The creatures out during the day are returning to their homes, while the night creatures are not yet up." With that I jump down from the tree I was in and prepare to move out.

after walkign for quite some time arrives at the tree where the quest began. reaching up into its branches he gathers some small black berries and munches on them.

"Not now 5 more minutes grumble grumble" ::Archaic realizes the danger he could be in if hes alone and bolts up.:: "So what are we doing now, traveling east where that big bird is? That sounds dangerous so lets go!"

"hrm, these berries are pretty good, not much sustanance if thats what your looking for but tasty, anyways, snack on some if you want, then we should get going"

::Grabs a hand full or berries:: "Well lets go. These berries do seem full of nutrients to so maybe they will help. I'll just pocket a few more of these and who knows, maybe they will help later on. I begin to walk eastward munching on berries and looking at my companions. HrmmI wonder why I am dictating my own actions out loud. The world may never know."

Yes anyways lets move quickly, and try to stay in hidden as much as possible." With that I begin to run, following Billgar to the east. After much running, we clear the path, and to our luck without seeing the giant crimson-winged bird. "phew that could of been bad. I am glad it all worked out." With that I sit down momentarily to catch my breath.

"Okaaaaaaaay! Well now I can relax again and enjoy this nice little walk through the wilderness. Still, I can't help but feel the urge to battle once more, even if it is but a deer that we can eat. I want to try out some new moves I've been thinking of and seeing just how far the lightning can cut on this blade. But above all I just want to see what Jungle could be hiding in his mystery bag now!"

"Not even I know what I have in this bag, and I do not want to find out. Let us get moving, once the sun goes down who knows what terrors come out. You can test out your blade then." All of that is said while walking, slowly getting closer and closer to the destination, and all the while looking around to see if there is anything out of the ordinary.

"That's a-okay, I only want to dull my blade on living things." ::secretly builds up an average amount of electricity in his blade and swings quickly. The lightning appears to go twice as far as his sword before disappearing.:: "Hrmm I suppose I can try attacking people like this, but it could possibly go further depending on the humidity of the air. I would figure this air is at about 50% humidity now so it can really go either way from now on. Oh right. Wait for me guys!" ::runs to catch up with his comrades::

"hm, I see. Let us move forward. However, seeing how it is night, these creatures have much better sight then we do right now. This is a dangerous thing." with that I put up the hood to my cloak, allowing it to cover my eyes. I do not need to see, I shall go by sound. This will make it more interesting anyways." I say, smirking as I say it.

"without you? we would move ahead. hahha, im just kidding, but so far this journey has been relativley easy hasnt it, i mean a few snags, but we are moving right along.

"Yup yup almost makes you wonder doesn't it? Don't you feel that it is only going to get worse? Hey maybe we will get into a fight with an army of bats, or have to fight a family of bears or maybe even have to escape from the cave because its collapsing due to an earthquake. =D Lets go!"

"Why did you say that," I say in a nonchalant tone, "don't you know that only jinx the situation." I put down my hood to sure enough from the depths of the cave two monsters come charing at us. They have dark blue bodies, with arms covered in muscle. They are very lean, but very tough as they seems to have skin that is as tough as metal (from the muscles). Their hands have long claws that look as though they are meant to cut meat. With a blood thirst look in their eyes, they approach closer still. "Thanks for the comment! Now look what we have to fight." I put the hood back on and take the scythe off my back. I charge at the one on the left.

"Yay yay battle time battle time!" ::Archaic gleefully unsheathes his sword.:: "Now lets get serious. This cave is dank and there is some moisture in the air. I figure my blade's electricity will be a bit stronger than usual and will be able to extend a further distance as well. I think against these guys I will focus on concentrating the electricity on the point of the blade." Archaic quickly break free of Billgar's grasp. ::The energy on the blade moves upwards and to the point. The room gets a little bit darker but the behemoths are still visible. Silently and skillfully Archaic slashes at the foul creatures cutting them a little, but only enough to penetrate their skin a little bit, but enough to send electricity through their blood, effectively slowing down their speed.::

"Hm, I do not think that will work too well of a shield." As I say that I quickly do a jump kick onto one of the monsters, put my foot on t, and the leap towards the second thing, as I take a swing, I am bounced right off of it. No damage was done at all. The monsters both laugh as the one I tried to attack with the scythe slashes me. When I get hit I go flying and hit the wall. "Dang it, My scythe can not cut them, at least not there. Try aiming for their..." gagging from the pain I cover my chest where I was hit, then I say "try hitting their neck."

"Great slice, I guess the neck is pretty weak huh?" As I say that one comes and tries to finish me off. "Not today, I am not ready to die." Getting the same blood thirsty look as they had I quickly get up and swing as hard and quick as possible, right at the throat. It cuts right through and causes blood to come gashing up. "Heh, I thought it was going to harder than tha..." As I say that I fall to the ground, the pain is unbearable, and only got worse. "I.. will catch up later. I need to rest for now."

"Heave ho there buddy. Let me just pile these heads into the magical bag of yours and lean you up against the ave wall. I'm not feeling 100% myself actually.. I think I used up a lot of stamina when I generated so much electricity. Lets set up tent or something for a little while at least."

"Well I'm feeling a bit better, I guess we could start a fire and maybe go hunt some bats for food or something. Still that guy over there looks pretty hurt and it could be dangerous for him to be alone. Well we need food either way so I am going to hunt."

'Please, I will be fine on my own. Nothing will come after me, maybe after you guys but you should be fine. I just need a little rest. I can patch this up and be up soon. Oh and hey Archaic, give me those berries you were saving. I could use them right now. After that go on. I will be back soon enough.

"Oh right I forgot about these things. Let me eat just one and you can have the rest." Archaic pops a berry into his mouth with surprising results. "Oh wow these really help the stamina depletion. I should have took more. Well Jungle here you go see you later." Archaic hands the rest of the berries to Jungle.

After hours of resting, I get back up, feeling as good as new. I know that I need to run to catch up. Running as fast as I can for two minutes, then at a quick rate, I manage to catch up within two hours. (It appears they decided to rest not too long after me, go figure) "HI, you guys didn't have any problems did you? I suppose it does not matter now, how close are we to our destination.

"Umm I think we are a smidgen away from our destination... f our destination was back inside the ave. Other than that we probably have a long ways to go, but how am I to know? Leader boy over there has the map and I dont care to steal it nor read it. By the way do you have any of those berries left?"

"Lets just keep moving, and for you information... I ate them all. I was very hungry and thought that the berries tasted better than the heads would. Oh, and next time you stick something in the bag, I will kill you."

"Well excuse me for thinking that you would want some heads. I mean... it was Kefka!. I do wonder how he is doing but more importantly, you better get me food to pay me back!" Archaic than commences with a hunt for food.

"K, thats enough of filling you stomach, or trying thereto, lets get going, i think i see the exit to this passage up ahead"

"Race you to the end! Lat one there has to fight the next battle blindfolded. Hahaha." Archaic proceeds to run to the exit. "God you guys are slow whats taking you."
