Save the Trees: AM, S, BBAfter quite the journey the carriage arrives at Kishinston. Letting you off the driver looks to you and says.
"There is no bridge that leads accross the rivers that separate the Valley of Rainbows from the rest of the land. I suppose that its really an island of sorts. Anyways, the Lacrimabilis wont tread over water so Ill let you off here at this town. You should be able to get some useful information here about the Sorflin."
With that he returns to the capital.
Beanbaker
"Well then, we stay together, I do not wish to have another episode like Evroul. We shall start in the local bars, where there might some people who have encountered the beasts." I walk over to the pub and walk inside.
archaicmessiah
*Archaic follows Beanbaker's advice. In this quest he shall be the leader and thus Archaic shall listen to him, just this once. Remembering what happened in Evroul, Archaic recalls it wasn't all bad and splitting up did get the job done.*
I don't believe I have been here before, this shall be interesting.
Billgar
Stepping inside there are several worrisome men squabbling over a plethora of problems, the Valley of Rainbows which seems to be the least of their worries.
Looking to the table at your right, a man sits by himself sobbing, grasping desperately at the little hair that is growing out of his middle-aged head.
archaicmessiah
Well then Beanbaker, where shall we start first? I fear the squabbling men may cause a ruckus and some turbulence, and yet that man crying over there could cause us to go out of our way. Unless of course, he is crying over the trees or has some sort of information. Beanbaker would you mind if I go talk with him?
Beanbaker
"Yeah, sure, I'm going to ask the barkeep of the trees, or if anyone knows anything about them."
I walk over to the barkeep, "Have you heard anything about the beasts destroying the trees? I'm here with a few others for the extermination job."
archaicmessiah
*Archaic walks up to the weeping man and notices he is still crying. Drawing out any sense of compassion he can muster, Archaic begins to speak.*
"Do stop crying now. You are a middle aged man, show some strength that you surely have. But alas, I shall act as ears for you to express what it is that could be troubling you. However, in return I wish to know anything about the beasts that are destroying the trees."
Billgar
*beanbaker approaches the barkeep*
"The trees? Cant say I know anything about them. Everyone around here is still concerned with those lizards that keep destroying their crops. I cant say they bother me though, Ya see with all the problems the cause everyone just wants to drink away their sorrows!"
*leaning into beanbaker*
"Its good for business"
*archaic speaking to the sobbing man*
*sniff sniff wipe*
"Trees? IS TAT WHAT YOUR HERE FOR! WHAT ABOUT US! Dont make fools of us farmer! WE are good men! its sniveling brats like you, loyal dogs to the emperor that REFUSE to aid us and come HERE TO SAVE TREES!!!!!!!!!"
"ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR"
He pulls out a Common Knife and stabs archaic in the side.
*Archaic takes 18 damage*
archaicmessiah
"Tch, you really shouldn't have done that fool. I was trying to reach out, but now.."
*Archaic pulls out his greatsword and looks at the light wound of his. Blood flows out only a little so Archaic does not lose it at all, and instead delivers a swift swing of the blade at the knife wielding hand.*
"By attacking me, you were asking to be crippled."
Billgar
The mans hand comes off and screaming as he holds it, he stampers out of the pub and flees the scene, the rest of the pub goes quiet and all eyes move to archaic.
Beanbaker
"Archaic stop playing tea party with him. We'll deal with his problems after. Apparently not many know of anything about the trees, so we might have to go it kind of blindly. I'm going to see if there is a ferry nearby to get across the river."
I walk out of the bar and into the street. "Schmall!!! Get off your rear. We're heading to the forest."
Billgar
A group of locals exit the pub following behind you
Beanbaker
"Don't look now guys, we might have trouble. Just keep walking, we shall discover their intentions soon enough."
archaicmessiah
*Archaic looks at Beanbaker with a scowl on his face. He does not apologize for his actions but instead figures out how to use this to benefit the group.*
"I realize what you townsfolk just saw, but you must realize two things; first he attacked me before I did anything, and secondly you just witnessed a small portion of our power. We came here to destroy the beasts who are killing the trees. I realize that you folks are also in need, but by aiding us you are aiding the emperor, and by aiding him surely he will come to provide aim to you. Its a cycle, so now help us to help you."
Billgar
"We dont trust him, do you know how long weve been in a state like this? Too long! We dont much care what you save, but if you aint gunna help us then leave this village. the rivers straight ahead. SWIM."
Beanbaker
"Great. Swimming. Haven't had a near-death experience with that since never ago. I don't know what would've happened if we didn't say anything, so I'm not mad Archaic. Well, hope you guys float well!"
I sprint to the river and dive right in. It's pretty cold.
archaicmessiah
*Walks over to Beanbaker and shakes his head.*
"This probably wont lead us to where we want to go, they were just trying to get us out of there because of the emperor and the hand severing. Lets try to find the trees on our own I suppose?"
Beanbaker
At the opposite river bank, after drying off for a second and pulling the fish out of my armor, we see...
Billgar
*bean makes it to the other side of the river and walks about five feet forward. The downward inclination of a large hill is in front of him, and at its bottom there are trees more magnificent than anyone could imagine. Then however, a buzzing is heard, A swarm of red approaches, and completely covers a tree. Waiting a few minutes to see what happens, eventually it disappears, leaving nothing but a barkless stick.*
Beanbaker
"Alright, we follow that swarm. Don't attack until we see how many there actually are." I run forward into the woods following the beasts. Staying behind the already-eaten, barkless trees, I count how many there are.
archaicmessiah
*Archaic stands there dumbfounded and quickly swims across the river. Catching up with beanbaker he takes his sword out and gets ready for the worst.*
"well Bean, I owe you an apology. You were right to come this way."
Billgar
Beanbaker doesnt know what to make of the numbers, it seems near uncountable they move more as a mass than anything else. One lands on beans chestplate.
*schmall is watching from the riverbank*
Beanbaker
"Boy everything loves my chestplate. Well, I'm here to kill you, and that's final."
I jab my jutte right into the center, orb-like body of the creature.
archaicmessiah
*Archaic jumps back into the water and brings beanbaker with him*
There are far too many of them and they are easily upset. Do not kill one or else all of them will be on us. We must think this out first.. perhaps gather some insects or something somewhere. Lets think this through before we act brashly.
Beanbaker
"We don't anything about them, and if I could kill that one we might have an idea on what they can do. It may look like a swarm of hundreds of them, but we can't truly count them - there could be ten, or there could be fifty. If we can find a solitary one, we'll kill it, but if not, I'll throw you into the water."
I climb back out of the water, pull more fish our of my armor, and lay on the hill, trying to spy out a lone beast.
archaicmessiah
"Listen, I did not come here completely ignorant about what they are. Each one of those beasts can present slight danger to us, so being attacked by a group of 10 or more could be very dangerous. Instead lets look for insects so we can distract them and isolate them into groups of say 3 or 4 and take them out like that. Otherwise we could get mobbed and die."
Beanbaker
"...and you're acting like I don't know this. I got overrun by a group of those feral lizards plaguing the town's crops, and they took out my whole team. So, stop pestering me, I'm working on it. And don't fall asleep, unless you want to see what those lizards did to Koorlic..."
I continue to look on, ignoring Archaic's gaze.
Billgar
*beanbaker did indeed kill the Sorflin*
[note: please refer to the website to see the dimensions of Sorflin]
*you continue to watch as the insects gnaw at the trees. An eldery man approaches from the other side of the river bank. He has a kiseru in his hand*
Beanbaker
"I wonder what he is doing here. He walks as though he knows the place. Maybe we can ask him some questions."
I walk over to the man, respectively bow my head, and ask, "Good day sir, do you know about the creatures over the hill?"
archaicmessiah
*Archaic also approaches the man and lights his own kiseru. Giving him a nod Archaic stands silently next to his comrade. He too was curious as to what the man was doing here, and finally decides to swallow his pride and bowed to the man*
"Sir any information will help."
Billgar
"n....." he motions for you to follow him and leads you to a small shack not so far away.
It appears that this is his house....NO shop. He seemed familiar at first but the contents of his shop prove that he is the vendor of rare eastern wares that occasionally visits the capital.
He motions for you to sit down, and readies some Uticensium tea in a teapot
After chatting casually for a bit, he speaks about how he discovered the abnormal abilities of Lacrimabilis droppings, and how it works well as a repellent.
You thank him kindly and exit the shack.
*schmall has been quiet but is still with you.*
Beanbaker
"Well, you know of these droppings. Did you still keep them? If yes, that's disgusting and weird. If no, then I'm going to throw you back into the river."
Schmall
Schmall suddenly stubbles backwards, falls head over heels, and rolls back to his feet. He look around in complete confusion. "WOW!" He exclaims, "Where in Nocte am I? Last thing I remember is sleeping back in the tavern's back room and then WHAM, I am standing here! Hope I wasnt sleep walking again..."
Schmall looks around the area, trying his bearings.
archaicmessiah
"Beanbaker don't be so rude. Schmall and I have some of those droppings in our possession. However, if you keep acting like this I may just return back to the capital with them still in my possession and have you look for some yourself. Lets just take a moment to calm down before we start attacking each other."
*With that Archaic walks away and sits next to Schmall.*
Beanbaker
"Geez can't take a joke?" I sit down and start eating the fish from before.
archaicmessiah
"Ok now with the dung being a repellent I have an idea about what to do. We must approach the trees without taking a single beast, and then smear the poo on the trees. While we could smear it on ourselves, not only would that be gross, but also ineffective in the long run. Therego I shall repeat, approach the trees attacking nothing and decorate them with the dung."
Schmall
"Sounds good to me. If we were to purchase more of the dung, I am willing to bet the Emporer will reimburse us. For now, lets use what we have and see how it works," Schmall says. "We may even mention to the Emporer he may want to promote a Lacrimabilis ranch nearby and if he really wants to keep the trees thriving, pay some desprete people to smear the trees every once in a while. Maybe the criminals can do it . Just a thought for when we go back."
"Oh, I wonder if we mixed this stuff with water if it would still be just as effective. This way we can have lots and lots of it. Perhaps watering it to the trees would be enough. Never know, we have stranger things in this land."
Beanbaker
"Well, if so, I can borrow a bucket from the old man. A paste would be more effective in my opinion, for they are eating the bark itself. Yet still, what is going to happen to the sorfins?"
archaicmessiah
"Let us not mix it or it could quite possibly dilute the substance. For now I assume we only need a little bit on each tree as the smell does appear to be quite strong. So let us not jeopardize anything. As for the Emperor reimbursing us... well we are getting paid so he may claim that to be reimbursement. However the lacrimabilis ranch does sound like a good idea. But lets get going shall we."
Schmall
Schmall passes a portion of his droppings over to Beanbaker in order for him to help out and then heads for the woods. He is careful not to drop any of the dung and holds it close so the stench envelopes him, thus granting is weird repellant protection.
"I can climb the trees pretty well, so I will go up and get the upper area," volunteers Schmall.
archaicmessiah
"Schmall think about the situation at hand, it is much wiser to spread it at the middle of the trees. Doing so covers both the top and bottom as opposed to needing to spread more on the tree. We only have so much of this stuff so please use it in a conservative manner."
*Archaic also walks up to the tree, slowly and without attacking any of the beasts that come his way. Approaching the first tree he takes out a little of the smelly dung and wipes a bit across the middle of the tree, making a small ring around the bark.*
Schmall
Schmall, not being able to reach the middle of any of the big trees, copies Archaic on some saplings. Careful not to waste any dung or drop it.
Billgar
After doing this to several of the tree it becomes apparent that the sorflin have indeed ceased their consumption of the bark. However, the noise from their wings grows to a roar and the swarm moves in.
archaicmessiah
"Quickly with what little dung you have left cover some part of your body and rub your weapons against the poo on the trees. This will prevent us from being attacked... hopefully."
*With that Archaic smears what little dung he has left on himself and rubs his blade lightly against the poo on the trees. The smell covers him and it is truly painful, and yet he hopes that it prevents him from being attacked too much. He also gets one more idea.*
"I feel as though we should also run and try to escape/ reduce their numbers as opposed to being slaughtered by their huge numbers."
Schmall
Schmall follows archaic's example of smearing the dung on himself. Whats left he thrusts in his pocket for future use. He calls out, "If we should run for the river. Grab a reed along the way. This way we can escape them completely if need be."
Schmall takes his own advice and readys for a run back to river, waiting to see if the others go also.
As an afterthought, "I wonder if we can smoke them at all. Like smoking bees I mean."
Billgar
The three of you enter the river, and the insects completely overshoot you and enter the village perching on the wood built dwellings.
The carriage should be waiting just outside the pub.
archaicmessiah
"Well isn't this a bit unfortunate. It appears as though they have taken a liken to the village. Wait! Let us quickly get to the center of the town and burn the dung. After if they split into small enough groups we can try to fight them. As of now however, if we just hop onto the carriage surely there will be an uprising to this town. Also, the townsfolk should also be able to fight as I know from first hand that they have weapons and can do some damage, no matter how minor it is."
Schmall
"Agreed. The wet dung will smoke nicely. Should do the trick," schmall responds to Archaic. He starts to swim towards the village, using his grace and size to swiftly cut through the water.
archaicmessiah
*Archaic falls back a little and runs to the trees. Taking his blade he lightly takes off 3 pieces of bark and returns to the group. Diving into the water he swims across until he reaches the other side. From there he divides the bark he got and gives 1 to each of his comrades.*
"If we split these things up, using the bark we can split them up even more and thus make defeating them a bit more manageable don't you think? No hurry before its too late."
Schmall
"Good thinking," says Schmall. Upon reaching the bank he surveys the village to see what exactly is going on...
Billgar
The villages are panicking and squabbling around it appears that the capable have picked up arms, but between the lizards and sorflin they are far outmatched
Schmall
Confident that the flying swarms will not bother him, Schmall gathers up as much paper and twigs as he can to light a fast fire. He grabs some kindling and think sticks when and where he can. He lights it once the fire is ready in the middle of the village. He then places the wet dung (just came from a swim!) on top of the fire to produce the smoke Archaic suggested. If not enough smoke comes of this, Schmall will throw on green grass to get some more to help spread the effects of the dung.
Billgar
The smoke comes up and with a loud roar the swarm of sorflin leave(no doubt to go somewhere else). However the fire begins to grow quicker than anticipated.
archaicmessiah
*As Archaic watches Schmall set up the fire, Archaic places the first of his bait about 20 feet away from the fire towards the river bank. Hopping that this will draw their attention, Archaic readies his greatsword for the fight at hand.*
"Beanbaker, now is not the time to be silent." Archaic says in a quasi-serious tone.
Schmall
"WATER!! WATER!! FAST PEOPLE, GET SOME WATER!!" screams Schmall at the villagers in attempt to keep the unexpected bonfire undercontrol.
"Guess I should aim for a small fire next time," Schmall thinks to himself.
archaicmessiah
*Archaic watching the fire grow has no idea what to do. With no items that can transport water, he stands there and watches as the townsfolk panic. Archaic remains calm and he stands by his bait, waiting to see if the bat like creatures will bite.*
"Come over here you fowl beasts."
Schmall
Realizing no villagers are helping with the fire, schmall moves into action. He grabs a long, thick stick and prods the edges of the paper and sticks out of the fire, effectively spreading the fire out so that it doesnt bellow way up in the air instead. He is careful to be sure that he takes his time despite the heat so that no piece gets away from him.
Billgar
Villagers soon do arrive with water and help to extinguish the fire. It seems that the sorflin have fled but there are other troubles at hand.
*you look over at the angry crowd now well armed after aiding in the fight of the sorflin*
Schmall
Schmall quickly moves behind his armored, fearless leader so that he may take charge of the situation. "You may want to do something quick, even if it involves killing a few lizards to make these people happy," mutters Schmall to Beanbaker.
Beanbaker
"Geez, I might throw you in. You nearly set the place on fire." I mutter. "We accomplished our objective by driving off the sorfin, so we can either vamoose out of here or help these people out with the lizards. It's your choices."
Schmall
"Well, if we help them with the lizards, we accomplish two quests in one," says Schmall,"From past records that I have seen, no one has ever done that. Seeing as we have sustain little to no injuries, I say we check out the lizard situation. Even if we only clear out some of the lizards in this area. Just watch out for swarms dont forget. Remember what happened last time......."
Beanbaker
"Yeah well last time someone fell asleep and turned into a hosting ground for lizards. Nobody falls asleep (or in the river you go) and we take out as many lizards as we can, for I believe the infestation started somewhere in the woods near here. We try to find a central point of origin, and to see if there is a nest or something. If we see we're outnumbered, we'll run for our lives and head back to the capital, and get reinforcements."
archaicmessiah
"Wait, lets take this moment to actually talk with the townsfolk and to try to make appeasement slay the lizards, assuming they give us some information. If they dont and we go looking for those lizards, it may very well be a repeat of last time."
*With that Archaic walks towards the angered townsfolk and begins to speak up*
"We are sorry for what happened, and to make appeasement we shall be rid you of your lizard invasion. However, we would first like just one piece of information if anybody has it, and that is where their nest is and what is causing them the run rampant like this. If you do not wish to tell us than we do not necessarily have to go, but we still will. Just think about what you would prefer, taking your anger out on us, or having your troublesome lizard infestation gone."
Billgar
The crowd breaks into a dull roar as individuals begin to communicate with one another. A semi-hefty individual emerges.
In a deep voice he begins, "While the fire you started was indeed terrifying, it seems to have settled down. We still wont take kindly to you if you do, but we most certainly need the lizards to be removed. As for the nest...Im a afraid that we do not know...."
Schmall
Schmall mutters to Beanbaker, "Agree to that plan." The turning to the hefty man, "Any clue from what direction they first came from?" Asks Schmall to the hefty man, "If you dont know right off the bat, think back to who's farm was struck first and then the next, and then the next, and so forth. It will help determine which direction we should travel."
Beanbaker
Making a side conversation with Archaic, "I do remember right before I dies from one of the lizard attacks from before that the lizards ran up the road into the woods, but that's all I saw."
Billgar
"Ah yes!" answers the heftier man. "If you travel east of here towards the forest of souls, im sure that their number increase as that is their native dwelling, but never before have this many entered our town."
Schmall
Looking at his teammates, Schmall says, "That matches what Beanbaker had to say. Guess we should check things out uh? Even if we only find the big nest, its something worth running and getting those reinforcements that our leader here mentioned about."
Schmall looks at his mates expectantly and waiting to follow them off down the road.
archaicmessiah
*Archaic turns to Beanbaker and nods. After hearing the hefty man's response Archaic new what the group had to do, he just waited for the other two to acknowledge it. Still, Archaic took his sword and wielded it in his right hand ready to make leave to slaughter some lizards.*
"Thank you for that information, it shall come in use for us and especially you. We shall slay those lizards and hope that in some time you can forgive us and the emperor for our trespasses against you."
Billgar
*continuing down the road to the forest of souls, not much time passes before you see a parching lizard up in a tree. It ignores you, so there is no need to bother it. However, swiftly it descends and flees over a hill. Following it you see a large valley devoid of tree The corpse of a Orsa lays within it. Dozens of perching lizards feast upon its corpse. this new abundant food source must surely be the reasons that so many are leaving the forest!.*
*Just for reference*
Schmall
With an eye on his surroundings, Schmall speaks softly to his partners, "Suppose if we destroy that corpse, the lizards will go back into the forest? Or do you think they like out here too much and will still harass the farmers? At least its destruction will spread out the lizards and make it easier for the farmers to kill off any who pester them."
"Fire may be the only way to completely rid of the corpse. Unless we inject or coat it with lots of poison in order for the lizards to eat it and die. We have options. Lets explore them before charging in there and die by swarms of lizards."
archaicmessiah
"I personally did not bring any poison so shall we simply burn the corpse. Schmall, you seem to know how to start a fire so I request you do that here and quick. If any lizards attack you Beanbaker and I shall support and fight them.
Schmall
"Suppose the village has a barrel or two of oil. Any blacksmith will have at least one barrel for the purpose of cooling his metal without damage like water does. I bet we could pay the blacksmith for the oil," muses Schmall, "It would help a great deal. You can just run in there, throw it on top of the corpse, we will yank a rope tied to its lid, wait a moment for the oil to spread and seep in, and then we start throwing flaming branches and stick in to lite it. I just dont want to be the one down there when it goes up in flames."
"Of course, there needs to be a blacksmith back in the village or a merchant with a barrel of oil we can buy..."
archaicmessiah
"Schmall, you are much to spend happy. How did you start that fire before in the village? Just simply copy the same tactic near the beast and we should be alright. Also if the fire gets out of control, wild fires are needed to grow new trees and thus it would be all good unless it spread to the village. Still no oil needed, just wood I suppose."
Schmall
"Okay. Just trying to avoid being amoung the lizards. Bad experience. Guess its time to face my fears." Schmall then turns and looks for any and all twigs, bark, dry grass, and other small, highly flammable things that burn fast and hard. He also gathers up some logs with lots of reisin for they burn nice and hot.
Schmall also sends Lumpy the lump bird to fly around a bit just above the heads of the lizards with the intent of distractioning the lizards. Lumpy never makes a move that can even look like its offensive in order to have his power protect him.
Once a large amount of twigs, bark, and tender is gathered, "grab a couple of logs each. You guys can drag them in at least. Throw them on when the fire gets going strong so that you dont smother it." Schmall then carefully works his way down to the corspe with his big pile of twigs, bark, and tender.
"Lets just hope Lumpy and the corpse is enough of a distraction......"
archaicmessiah
*Archaic walks over to a tree and cuts it down. Cutting it into pieces he throws them onto the expanding fire. Archaic can see Schmall's efforts and thus moves up to him and gives him a pat on the shoulder. He can see the fire expanding rather quickly now so he takes his sword and quickly slashes a semi circle about a foot wide and 2 feet deep that encircles all sides of the flames aside from the direction of the beast. Hoping this will do something Archaic just sits back and watches as that lump bird acts as a distraction.*
"Well now we play the waiting game."
Schmall
smelling the stench of the burning corpse, Schmall continues to throw on more wood. Any wood he can find. Lumpy also continues to fly around distracting the lizards as best as he can without attacking in any fashion.
"Just want to be sure there is enough wood on there to keep the fire going if and or when the lizards get mad. Dont want to run away and only have a small chunk of the corpse burnt to ash. Hope the bones done burn to ashes. Bet we can fetch some good coin from a merchant for its skeleton," Schmall says between breathes of air for his lunges are now starting to sting from the foul smoke bellowing from the fire/corpse.
Billgar
The corpse ignites and burns rapidly catching many lizards in the inferno that ignites. After some time has passed, the flames die down. The only thing remaining is a single tusk from the Orsa.
Schmall
Schmall, feeling that his fire idea did the trick and had to haul most of the wood, rushes forward to grab the tusk. He looks at the others to see if anyone disagrees and says, "Mind if I keep the tusk?"
"Guess its time to head back. Thats two quests we all should be able to cash in."
archaicmessiah
"I suppose you may, it was your fire that did the work. however, I call dibs on the next piece of treasure. For now let us move on and Beanbaker can catch up with us. We just slayed a bunch of lizards with that and I really would like to move on."
*Archaic begins to move forward with his sword drawn and ready for combat.*
Schmall
Schmall follows suit, motioning for the sleep walking Beanbaker to follow along also.
"Besides, you got the orb of sharpness as party leader before. So I feel we are even for now. I will willing back down on the next piece. If we keep this trade of system going, I will go by it.," says Schmall to archaic.
Billgar
After rounding the hill ro come back to the path the sight is quite horrific, as a swarm of about 2-3 hundred lizards move towards the village.
archaicmessiah
*Archaic rushes towards the town, making sure to cut down small branches along the way. He knew what he had to do and he had to do it quickly.*
"Schmall, we must go now and set up a wall of fire around the town. First we will start along the path and then we shall encircle the town. A wall of fire is the only way to protect the town. After there is a chance they will split up, from there we should try to pick them out by throwing chunks of flying wood at them or something. Still we must hurry!"
*Archaic proceeds to run to town and manages to make it 30 feet away from the village. Laying down the wood he starts to quickly rub a stick together with some grass and timber and tries to light a fire. There were far too many lizards for just Archaic and Schmall to take on, even they had Beanbaker. Finally a spark ignites and a fire starts, spreading to form a small line. Archaic runs to the trees once more and cuts down many more, adrenaline pumping he is able to carry five full sized trees to behind the spot and cuts them up. Reinforcing the wall he lays down even more and the fire spreads. After a few more trips to the woods the wall is nearly in place.*
Schmall
Schmall rushes after Archaic, know that only one fire spot is not enought. "You continue to get the trees and large wood, I will keep lighing more fires and thus spread it faster!" With that, Schmall starts to once again gather twigs, paper, dried grass, and anything else that starts fast. He grabs a flaming stick dripping with resien and then runs along the wall of wood, lighting it were he has piled the twigs, paper, bark, and dried grass.
He rushes with all speed and the entire time yelling our goals out at the villagers in an attempt to get them to assist us.
"Help us build a ring of fire around the village!! You must a swarm of hunderds will descend upon this very place and consume all!! Hunters, to the roof tops and start shooting down on them, everyone one else, man, women, and child, get to work. NOW!!"
archaicmessiah
*Archaic continues running back to the forest and gets more and more trees that are used as timber. Soon the fire encircles the town, but more wood is still needed to keep it alive. There was but only once choice Archaic saw and thanks to his adrenaline, Archaic was able to do it. He jumped through the flames and landed by rolling on the ground and getting the fire off of him. Archaic finally got the last batch of wood and returned to the town, once again jumping through the fire.*
"tch that is going to burn after all this, grr."
*Archaic chops up the wood even more until it is small enough to be easily manageable. With this Archaic continues to run around the flame, placing a log down here and there. Although his adrenaline is pumping the exhaustion finally gets to him and he collapses. Picking himself up he takes a seat in front of the entrance to the town and rests.*
"I'm winded and will need a minute to rest. Please continue for me." Archaic says while breathing heavily.

I start to pull dead trees left over in the town from the sorfin attacks, and arrange them in a curved line. Panting, "I hate to say this guys, but we might not have enough time, and even a partial line will only make the lizards go around. We might need to distract them somehow... even though its suicide..."

"hahahahahaha I hope they go around. I didn't tell you guys this but I have a plan that when they surround the flames, we will pick them off about five at a time by jumping out from the flames, cutting and jumping back in from the flames. It is guerrilla warfare my friend."
Beanbaker
"Well, I'll go with that, I have nothing myself. Just don't get burned." I light my section of the fire fencing, and draw my weapon.
Schmall
"Sorry guys, but I am a little short to be jumping that fire. I will instead search for rocks and throw them up and over. I will also go and see what I can do about the villagers helping." Schmall says to the other two.
Schmall heads into the village proper, rounds up all hunters with bows, herds them up on roof tops and gets them to start shooting. All the other men without bows he organizes into rock throwers. He gets them to throw the rocks, chunks of wood, furniture, or whatever that can be thrown at hand at the thickest groups of lizards, with himself up on a roof directing them where to throw. The children and women run around the village searching for things for the men to throw and also dig out more arrows for the archers to shoot.
Schmall also makes sure that everyone is armed with something just in case. even if its only clubs, its better than nothing.

Like ants from mounds more appear out of seemingly nowhere. Marching forward the corpses of the fallen are enough to smother the flames as they make their way to the village. One child thinking them cute walks up to the waddling reptiles and pets it. More descend upon the child like the fires of hell did hitler and consume it in an instant.

archaicmessiah

"why... why does this have to happen here. Despite our great plan their numbers only increase in numbers. What exactly did this town do to be cursed like this. If we are to try to kill them, we will surely end up dying. This is rather unfortunate and I have no suggestion."
Beanbaker
"Now is our decisions, fight to the death, which I would suggest and go down heroes, or we run and get the towns people to flee, and we could come back with reinforcements. Either way, its your choice. I don't care either way." I stand steadfast.
Schmall
"There are just too many of them!! We must go around and find the real source of this swarm!!" Schmall pants out after running back to his two partners. "We must either destroy or plug the source of thise invasion!!"
archaicmessiah
"Well then let us run to the forest behind the lizard pack, the source must be there or some where near. Until then have the villagers hide away in their houses and bolt the windows and doors shut. It is up to us to end this siege or die. Whatever it may be lets go now!"

The lizards seem rather uninterested and now that the fire has been extinguished they move forward completely ignoring the farms and marching straight through the village. The are seem leaving on the horizon as nothing more than a green mass.
"Is that it?" Creaks an awkward man from window above as he cracks it open.

Beanbaker

"Okay, lets head to the trading post a little ways up the road to the west. I saw them from there head northeast, and the nest must be directly north of us in our current location." I run, with Archaic and Schmall behind me.
Schmall
Schmall repeats the message to the villagers and they all either runn off away from the lizards or board themselves up within thier homes and shops.
Returning the the group once again he says, "Ready for a run? We need to circle around a bit and then follow the lizards back."
schmall then prepares himself for a good run and waits for his mates before beginning.

*beanbaker runs off ahead as small waits with the unresponsive archaic.*

*Archaic thinking about what to do decides to follow Beanbaker and Schmall. The truth of the matter is that things were looking bad, but there was no time to go back to the palace and ask for reinforcements.*
"So what are we going to do if more lizards become before we make it to the end anyways? We just gonna fight and die like dogs eh? If so... what are we waiting for? Lets go!"
Beanbaker
Looking back, "If you haven't noticed, its you we're waiting for. Come on, we're heading towards the nest."
