Search feature?I was just wondering if there is any chance of LE getting a good search feature in the forum. Not only would it help with the belts, but it also helps to make sure that there is no topic already existing before you make a new one. However, if you cannot that is perfectly fine, I am just curious is all.

Koku

Maybe, that would be good but might slow down the server a little bit. I would not mind it at all though.

I was talking to Billgar about the old search on here, and how it didn't work. He didn't know why, and nearly that moment he took it off.
Billgar

I have conemplated adding a google search to the website, but not to the forum. I like being able to offer gc from time to time to look for things i cant find.
Archaic
Ah I see, that makes sense then I suppose. While it makes life a tad bit harder not to have, it also has potential to be that much more rewarding. Still, when this site gets much more populated and more threads are created, it may be worth thinking about scrapping the potential of GC for the ease and organization of the forum.
Koku
I like it too. I am one of the few people who actually take the time to do it so I benefit in the end.
Beanbaker
Yes, you benefit because you have memory of this site like how well my old cat remembered to bite me when she was hungry. Plus you know the whole place inside and out, but internal is Bill's job.
Koku
I know this place very well and now besides for coding it is a lot of my job too. Still, I might know a little too much...
Billgar
Well the burden of knowledge comes with being given the powers of an admin of course.
Beanbaker
Ah well, if you become too powerful the system will overload, you will be sucked into your monitor screen, and you will have to bask in every annoying bit of information that is the internet.
Koku
That would be amazing actually, I would have so much fun. Still My knowledge is great, and it is just from visiting this so often and looking for treasures (which even I do not know the locations to).
Archaic
Umm Koku, are you sure you want to bask in ALL the knowledge of the internet. I'm sure there's a certain video involving a cup that you would rather not want to be forced to know about.
Still, in regards to this site I can sometimes hear Koku rolling the dice a lot so it does sound kinda tedious at times.
Koku
Yeah, but those are some fun times. I do not mind that. It is when I look for a treasure chest that it gets really bad. I gave up for now.
Archaic
Yeah I remember when I turned html off and tried looking for them, but y'know what. It was still super tedious that I gave up after general as it was way too much work.
Koku
Yeah, if I catch anyone does that and I find out I may have a surprise in store for them. Keep html on, there are a lot of things that use it right now.
Archaic
Yup, without it your experience actually does go down quite a bit on this. I remember when billgar shown us the preview of the broccoli looking item, and I couldn't see it at all thus I was left out for a little.
Beanbaker
I have almost no idea how to turn it off, so I think I'm fine. Plus, there are worse things than that cup incident. After all, it is the world wide web, and there are weirder people out there.
Koku
Indeed, html is a very good thing to have on here. In fact, I wish there was a way to get rid of choosing to turn it off.
Archaic
I do not believe there is as some people are still stuck with dial up to html sometimes needs to be off for their slow sakes. Still I suppose the argument can be made against the search feature as well. It could possibly slow down the server. Besides, after finding all my posts today, I realized that its not that hard to go through and seeing if there already is a preexisting topic. Afterall, there is only like 1170 threads.
Koku
Yeah I know it is tough. I seen a few duplicates but on different things on the topic. It does not matter. With how much time that has passed between the original topic and the new topic may be better to have a fresh start. JUST DO NOT DELIBERATELY DO IT!
Beanbaker
Well its easy for us since we are training our eyes to look for specific things, like our names and the blinking icons. I found all of mine pretty easily, and it was somewhat satisfying.
Archaic
Ah but Beanyboy, finding your name and blinky icons is oft' much more easy than reading each topic's name. Thus, I do suppose since we do nto have a search feature, a couple accidental duplicates can be acceptable as Koku said.

Its tough finding those blasted chests. I have poked around at random, but nothing yet. May need to develope a more methodical method in finding them.
Just how many chests are there by the way??
Koku
I have no idea how many chests there are, and out of those how many still contain treasure. I have about 6 myself, so good luck not just finding a treasure chest, but a treasure chest that is not empty.
Archaic
From what I hear there are a few of them, and they can be found in random spots and kinda blend in with the posts. Have fun trying to find them, especially considering that you have to go through every page and read every post. o_O

I have been skimming through looking for that big red X. just gotta find it from what i understand. May have been an actually pic, but I could only see the big red X when billgar made that example. O well, I will find the biggy. Just wait and see.
Koku
Wait a red X, I think that you are looking for an image that looks like *treasure chest* and not an x. That would be important to know.
Schmall
I figured as much. I will have to find the example again and see If I can see it properly. Either way. I was looking for any image that was not a smiley face within the posts. I was able to see that nothing was in the X though.
MUST FIND A CHEST!!
Archaic
That is of course unless the image did not load for him and thus he got the x... However, X does not always mark the spot as Koku said, and one must find the treasure chest in writing.
Schmall
Oh!! The chest is in text?!?! Not an image?!?! AAAHHHHHH!! all those wasted minutes of scanning and skimming!!! AAAHHHH!!!
*bangs head repeatedly on keyboard*
I have a head ache...

Its actually written in html. I once knew the code and tried searching that way, but the results were... well they left a lot to be desired. Still Just keep searching and you may just find one.
Koku
Just so you know I searched through most topics carefully. I think there is one or two forums I have not yet checked for treasures, but that is my secret.
Archaic
Oh that is just mean. However, I am guessing that they may be anime and food or something. Hrmm but you know what, we don't need a search engine, all we need is Koku since he probably read every post that was ever written on LE.
Koku
Basically, if you want to find something just ask me. I will probably be able to find it for you.
Archaic
Find me the treasure chests! XD But seriously, that probably comes in handy when Billgar is looking for something, and yet, gives you way too much of an upper hand.
Koku
Indeed it does come in very handy. I can usually find anything within 15- 30 minutes (minus treasure chests). I really do know this place like the back of my had. Sure new things come up, I quickly learn them too.
Beanbaker

Well I have the short term memory of a rock so I only remember really impacting things, like my translation mistake, and battles. I could not tell you the sequence of events from memory of my first rp, even if my life depended on it.

when i read things that i enjoy or see something in pic, I remember it better. I am very visual. So a good story of some kind I actual have a movie running in my head instead of simply reading a book. Hard to explain, but if you read alot and do this also, then you know what I mean.
Koku
I do know what it means, and experience it too. It is a good way of really taking in the story. It means you are really reading it and not just skimming through it.
