In the middle of the capital, a ruckus about a rumor that some serpents made their way into the sewers can be heard. They do not seem to be causing any trouble, but people are still yelling loudly about it.
"You know I seen them before, nasty things. I don't want to think about what they may doing there."
"They are not really there, you are just a drunk fool. Nothing lives in our sewers."
"If you think that is true why don't you go look!"
"I do not want to get my clothes ruined with that sludge!"
"don't worry there are ways to remove the smell and make everything good as new, c'mon coward get in there."

Schmall

"Whats this I hear about critters in out sewer system?" Schmall says as he walk up to the two drunks.

Koku

"This bone head does not believe there are serpents in the sewers, but I know they..." the man starts to point at the sewer as he stumbles around, "they exist. I seen them walking home one night. It was just staying in one place, I ran away fast. They are in there and need to be taken care of."

Schmall

"Serpents you say? Hmmm, this does sound pretty bad. Any idea how they got there or how many?" asks Schmall all the while thinking that if this is true, he is going to need some help most likely.

Koku

"There are none in there at all, this drunk just makes stuff up or was mistaking it for something else." One man says
The other man punches him on the top of the guys head, "He knows nothing, there must be many of them in there. How else would there be so many claims."

Schmall

Schmall, angered over the immaturity of these grown men, quickly punches both of them in the stomach. Watching them both bend over gasping for breath he says, "Lets try this again. What exactly do the claims say? And no more inturruptions. I dont want to dirty this street." Schmall's hand pats the katana's pommel peeking over his shoulder, the implicaton rather clear.

Koku

After getting up they see the warrior put his hands onto the sword, without hesitation the two drunks look at each other then run into the large crowd of people yelling for their lives. Schmall tries to find them, but is unable to.

Schmall

Saying to himself, "Sometimes I just need to cotrol myself. I need more information before going down in the sewers in search of trouble."

Schmall heads out into the crowd, listening for anyone talking about serpents in the sewers.

Billgar

*after not so long a rather large and boisterous man is spotted by schmall. With his tall physique and round midline it can be seen that his shadow weighs more than the stout warrior.*

"I tel ye! I seens it!." He slobbers out as his neck meats giggle
"It werent nothin that lives down there naturally! Ive been working down in those sewers longer than i want to remember, and never before such a thing. Look at what it did to me leg!."
He pulls up his leg only a few inches as his stomach fat prevents it from moving any higher. then he lifts the pant leg revealing a large scar.*

Schmall

"Wow! A big powerful, strong man such as yourself must have delivered vengance on it. Just how big are they anyways? I am rather curious and looking into what can be done about this issue," says Schmall. "Matter of fact, would you be able to show me where this happened as you tell me all you know."

Koku

"I could not see it the creature was too fast for me and stayed under the water. But this could not be done by anythin' else. I was in the sewer not to far away from here, but by now the serpent must be somewhere else. If you want to know how to get there," The large man points to a ladder heading down, "Go down that and take a left. In 'bout five minutes walking you should reach where I was. B'careful, wit' that creature here the sewers are dangerous now."

Schmall

Schmall thanks the fat man and runs off.

He later returns with a lump bird on his shoulder and heads over to the ladder leading down. After pulling the lid aside, Schmall takes a couple of minutes to adjust to the smell. He then pokes his head down to see if there is a ledge to walk on and how the lighting is before climbing down.

Koku

Being still visible from the outside the entrance is well lit from the sun. Inside the tunnels light can be seen coming from the sewers from above. There seems to be nothing bug living in the sewers from Schmalls vantage point. There is no ledge, so the only way to go in is to go through the sewage.

Schmall

Schmall sends his lump bird down to skim the surface of the water, knowing that so long as the bird does nothing on the offensive, nothing can hurt his new pet. The idea is to see what will leap out and try to eat the bird.

Koku

the lump bird seems to struggle to stay above the sewage. it flails around before finally going under. Schmall grabs it before it is too late and cleans it off.
The lump bird takes 1 damage.

Schmall

"Sorry about that Lumpy," Schmall coos to the bird. "You can go back the tavern and wait for my return. Here, take this," Schmall uses a bit of string from the ground and writes a message to Koku on a piece of paper blowing around. He ties the string to the message and to the leg of the lump bird. Lumpy then flies back to the tavern.

*the messge says, "Koku, I am Lumpy. My owner is Schmall. Plz dont kill me."*

Once the bird flies off towards the tavern, Schmall mutters to himself, "Guess I will just have to do things the hard way." He climbs down the ladder slowly. He enters the sewage carefully, testing his footing (if there is any), with always a hand on the ladder. Katana is still sheathed for he does not wish to drop it into the unknown depths.

Koku

Stepping into the ground it is slip and slimy with something rather unpleasant. The sewage brushes past you in a steady rate. There still seems to be no creature lurking in or around the area.

Schmall

ooc: Schmall is 4' 7" need to know how deep it is compared to him. Ankle deep, waist, chest. important to know

Koku

It is about 2' deep, it is a constant 2 feet deep as it was constructed to be. there are long poles on the walls to grab and to climb on just in case it gets too much higher.

Schmall

Schmall standing about thigh to waist deep, turns and starts heading against the current, figuring that if he gets swept away for some reason, he has a better chance of not getting lost. He keeps his left hand on the poles to help with balance. Katana is still not drawn to prevent losing it.

Schmall is also taking his time, he is in no hurry.

"This place reeks, just need to find a serpent, kill it, and take it to Koku. Maybe a real quest to exterminate can be done later on."

Koku

As schmall walks nothing can be seen out of the usual. The sewer was rather calm except for the sound of the water, and still shown little signs of life. After walking for a little while Schmall only seen a perching lizard walking on the polls on the wall. something cuts his leg, it was long and felt a little slimy.

Schmall

With an eye on the perching lizard due to past experience (ooc; is it on his side?), Schmall draws his katana. He then carefully pokes down in the sewage trying to determine with the sharp object or thing is. If it moves on its own, he turns so his back is agains the wall, left hand on the pole, and sword down in the water between himself and whatever may attack. If it does not move and satisfied it is not going to eat him, he will use his foot to try to bring it to the surface to see what it is.

"I hope it's some forgotten, ancient blade of power instead of a big nasty fish. I could use some thing other than this katana some day. Guess I am about to find out, uh Schmall," he says outloud to no one in particular.

Koku

Schmall's sword rubs against something metallic in the water. Reaching down it appears it is just a pole and nothing more. After walking a little more a a long, black, shiny thing is coming towards schmall. It looks like it may be the serpent others have seen.

Schmall

Schmall scuffs his feet a bit, trying to clear some of the gunk and get better footing, keeps his left hand on the wall, and prepares for a downard stab once the serpent is in easy range. He is careful to not thrust the blade into his own foot or leg.

Koku

Stabbing into the black, long, slimy thing, it turns out to just be an old cloak that was discarded. It is beyond salvaging. It move slowly with the tide of the sewage. It was now wrapped around Schmall's sword.

Schmall

Annoyed, Schmall scraps his katana along the pole on the wall to push the excuse of a cloak off his blade. A thought suddenly occurs to Schmall. He checks the water one last time for any dangers, and then moves along the wall to get closer to the lizard.

muttering to himself, "perhaps I can use the lizard as bait. I just hope a whole swarm of either the lizards or serpents. Be funny if a huge nest of lizards is down here that is causing the source of the infestation above."

Koku

The lizard flees as Schmall gets near it. The cloak seems to have picked up speed and was leaving the tunnel. Soon screams and yells could be heard from the entrance from what sounds like the citizens.

Schmall

Schmall works his way back to the entrance to see what the commotion is. He first moves across the sewer so his left hand can remain on the pole.

"Prlly just some stupid peasents screaming over the blasted cloak. Guess I should make sure in case some child fell in."

Koku

Going outside Schmall sees the people yelling.
"Watch out! The serpent is here, do not get too close!" one person said pointing to the cloak
"Kill it! Kill it!" another says
A large commotion can now be heard from the crowed about what they are seeing.

Schmall

With a grin of delight, Schmall lets out a battle cry worthy of a mighty barbarian "BLOOOOOODD ANNNDDD VVVINNNNAGGGGEERRRRR!!!!!!" He hacks and slashes at the cloak, careful not to harm himself or the blade. Once the cloak is in many pieces and is swept away, Schmall turns to bask in the cheers of the crowd.

"Gotta give them some kind of show at least to get them out of here," Schmall thinks to himself.

Koku

Seeing the sight, some people stared in awe while others yelled boisterously.
"Where was the blood" one guy loudly pointed out."
"Who cares he slayed a serpent." A woman yelled out loudly and happily.
"Thank you, I feel as if the sewers may be safer now." A little boy said.
After minutes the crowed seemed to be talking about a new story- the one who slayed a vicious serpent.

Schmall

Schmall takes in the praises without a word. He just moves to the wall on his left and continues walking back up stream in search of the lizard or a serpent. He knows that he must bring back a corpse of a serpent or Koku, Beanbaker, Archaic, and the others will never believe him.

Koku

Looking as hard as he may he is unable to do so. After a good hour of searching he heads up and towards his quarters to wash up.
