Some HesitiationThough I am for the system, and will say that clearly. This site IS for the user and my main goal is to provide an entertaining world for you all and myself. Being "The Emperor" I feel that it is necessary for me to listen to "The People" As a result let me elaborate and give some examples of the class system that i have in mind.
Though these are bound to change I desire for each user to be able to choose their class fairly freely. I will create more than enough options for every one to choose from. As an example here are a few options that I am considering. Keep in mind that these are to change.(these names will DEFINITELY change)
Warrior
Those who choose the path of the sword. Skilled in the art of wielding such a blade these individuals pride themselves upon physical prowess and the ability to mow down foes with more than a fair amount of ease.
Benefits: Extra 20 possible Max Dam added when using a weapon that could be classifies as a sword.
Mage
In the land of Nocte there are few who are skilled in the art of Nature. Mages strive to call fourth the power of the elements to aid them in lifes long struggle.
Benefits: Extra 20 possible Max Dam added when using neutral magic
Healer
Similar to the mages in this fair land are the Healers. Once again calling upon the power of the land and its forces, they however have another focus. To aid others in life and to provide longevity to the inhabitants of Nocte is their ultimate desire.
Benefits: Items and spells that recover HP, restore an additional 5%
Tamer
In more than just our kingdom there are beasts who hold immense power that is naturally bestowed upon them. Relying on their skills to be at one with the world, Tamers pursue a path with a companion always at their side. Though there will of course be those critters who attack anyone, most animals are fond of Tamers.
Benefits: Summons/Pets receive an additional 5% in all applicable stats. Tamers do 5% less damage when they themselves attack.

I do like the sound of the class system. The effects are perfectly minute and thus do not drastically change things, and yet they are effective. Also in later updates there can even be a class ladder so the effects can get boosted if certain criteria are met. However that is just an idea for a future update thus when more weapons are introduced more people will fit in more definite classes.

To me I can go either way. While some of it sounds good, I think overall it would be better without the class system. I think going without the class system might make characters more open, or at least allow people to choose their own name for the way they are playing their character.

The concept is good, but I dont like the restrictions. Take this for example " Extra 20 possible Max Dam added when using a weapon that could be classifies as a sword." The magic word is sword. That really only means those below me and Archaic can really benefit from this at the moment. Too many people have chosen to go with some other form of weapon or been stuck with something other than a sword (a scythe or axe for example). I personally feel that it will steer the warriors towards the gilded gladius more than anything else. That is a natural max of 320. that is the best sword in the game at the moment. What about the others? the idea of a warrior is to focus on your chosen weapon and to become a master of it.
Perhaps you can make it a little more complex. Chose your class early on. When you reach a certain points (go with the current post count ranking system for example for now) and you gain a little more. So to start off with you gain like say, a free minor thing that is useful for that class. wooden weapon for the warrior, tiny little pet that is easy to die for the tamer, a simple spell for the the mage, and a root for the healer or maybe a minor wand of healing. Basically really small, but useful for those below 100 post count. When you go up in ranks within the given class, you can chose what you wish to specialize within the class. The tamer choses a certain critter, warrior a certain weapon, mages a certain spell, and healers must chose between healing, poison, revival, or a certain other useful thing within the domain. the idea is to gain more abilities within the classes.
Keep it small and balanced. we have the belt system right now. We dont need the warriors have super powerful one hit kills all the time, but they will be the biggest in the terms of raw potential damage.
just something to think on. I like the idea of classes, but i think they need more tweeking. I will think on it more and come up with more solid ideas later. i have been drinking and it is about 2am right now. so i am gonna go to bed. dwell on my thoughts for I believe they are valid and worth thinking about. You dont want people to feel forced to go certain directions for gain the certain benefits. You want to give them the options of choosing thier direction. right now we can be anything. Heck, I am playing a 4' 7" guy just because everyone else is not. Most are big and powerful. So dont take that away from us. we like options, not restrictions. I believe I have made my point. will check this tomorrow. good night you all.
EDIT: I did not cast a vote yet. I will refrain from doing so till tomorrow when I see comments to my posting first. Thank you for understanding.

1) the strongest sword is the twin stomp blades- they need to be considered part sword. Furthermore, it sounds like you are asking to get more items as you gain ranks, but that throws out the need to buy weapons really. I say just do not put in the rank system, it is just a little extra work that would go unthanked after about a week. Just keep it how it is now.

I did not mean free items, I meant the abilities go up. I like the idea Billgar has. Its simple and easy, but I dont like the idea of the warrior being forced towards the swords. You can have them just for all non-blessed/curse weapons. this also will not include the belts.
another thought, we can have a martial artist class. A bonus towards using belt abilities.

As I said these are just example, there would indeed be martial arts class and there would be one that specializes in exotic weapons(like sythes, nunhcaku, ect) as well. If your weapon turned legendary it would definately turn into something your class gets benefits from. I mentioned in my first post that these were just some examples. There will be over 30 classes in total to choose from(maybe more), alot of which will have mixed abilities so that you ca switch between things. With this I do not feel that it is restricting in any way.
Also, even if we do not get the ranking system, as it would not affect anyone on site right now. I was going to make noob starter kits so they could get going with things, and so that we could prevent the crappy post flood they do in the begginning(I was going to add an armor that you needed under 30 posts to equip and its ability was to make your HP 30).
However I started this poll to see what everyone was thinking, and I am getting some great feedback. But just keep in mind that the four you read are not static, nor are they the only choices. I feel that there will be more than enough to accommodate to everyones desires. Also perhaps I would be able to work in some kind of fee(maybe like GC or a weapon worth so much GC or something) that allows one to switch classes.
*I WILL PUBLISH A FINAL LIST and system of rules then start another poll after that.*

In that case, I am truly looking forward to the class system.
the starter kits will be useful for sure. You wont have a bunch of people like me posting like mad and not all will have the nice quality we have all come to expect from one another.

Indeed, though the start kits and the class system will be released separately.
