Ok so as some of you may know, I got a xbox 360 for christmas and naturally the first game I bought was fallout 3. In short; this game was fantastic! I literally played it for like 6 hours a day for 2 weeks straight, and I loved every minute of it.
Its a game that throws you into an open world with very little instructions. Its up to you to decide what kind of character you will be as well as finding out the mystery behind where a certain character went. I will be honest enough to say its basically like an elder scrolls with guns, but at the same time, its so much more than that and its WAY more fun. If you get a chance, you gotta play the game as the hype is actually dead on.

Yeah from what I seen the game was very interesting, but I wonder about how many enemy variation there is. It seemed to be much of the same. The face customization is also less amazing than I think people make it out to be. The overall difference is not enough to spend hours trying to customize. _________________

My friend freaked out when he played the game. I'm going to borrow it from him when he's done with it.
Some of the features in the game are just awesome. Sticking mines in people's pockets is a great way to get some laughs and blow limbs off. The other weapons are pretty original too, with the Fatman and the Rock-it launcher. |

I will address things as people mention them. The first I will comment on is the enemy customization. I will admit that the enemies are not that wildly customized, but seriously, you don't even care as the combat feels too fresh and involving. Also as for the facial customizations, who cares!? I only played the game in first person anyway so I never even saw my face. That's like complaining that the lead character looks stupid in a FPS... if you dont see them than its not a big deal.
When playing the game I never really freaked out, and I don't really understand why your friend did, but I wont judge him haha. Although, I did freak out due to withdrawals if I didn't play it ever couple hours.
I should also address the original weapons. Yes there are a few original weapons, but many more of them are not that original, but rather well implemented. In fact I could name all the original weaposn and describe what they do... so I will!
The fatman- this thing fires mini-nukes. Powerful as heck
The dartgun- a machine gun that fires darts
The railway rifle- a rifle that fires railway spikes
the shiskebab- A knife that is on fire!
the rock-it launcher- fire any trash you find like they were missles
nuka-cola mine- a land mine made from a nuka (coca) cola bottle
bottle-cap mine- a mine made from bottle caps (the game's money)
death-clar gauntlets- a gaunlet made from the hand of one of the game's most viscious enemies
Alien Blaster- a ray gun that can 1 hit kill just about all enemies
Well those are all the original ones I can think about. _________________

I must agree that Fallout 3 was a great game. I rented it back in early December and beat it several times, good, neutral, evil, as well as all of the quests so I feel I should at least throw in my 2 cents.
First off, you never play 3rd person so it doesn't really matter what you look like, and some of the helmets even cover your face anyway. You can still pan out to see how cool your armor looks though.
The enemies are rather standard with a decent variety. You don't really get bored of killing them and if you ever do you could always just go start killing all of the people.
Archaic covered most of the weapon related things, all that I should add is that there are even some named weapons in the game like Eugene the minigun and the shiskebab actually lights the enemies on fire too.
As for the story, the main plot is decent, but the game's sidequests are far better. I would go into more detail, but that would be a spoiler.
Finally I want to mention the VATS system, which is like a turn-basedish fighting system that you can use. You have a certain number of AP points to make shots off with. The point of the VATS system is that it slows time and allows you to aim for limbs and do more damage or disable them, like harming the legs so he can't run or harming his arm so he drops his weapon. _________________ "So they want to kill my men? Yeah I would have to agree with Obagon's statements. Oh and there's one weapon we both forgot to mention, the repllent stick that makes the molerat enemies explode with 2 hits!
A second thing about the VATS system is that while it gives you all those options Obagon mentioned, I really found myself only aiming at two spots; the head or the weapon if I didn't want it. While you could shoot the arm, the enemies just picked the weapon back up within seconds, and firing at the legs didn't do as much damage as a headshot. Also lets face it, most of the time the enemies were more like berserkers than they were snipers, and they would really only run away when they were near death. Nothing my favorite weapon couldn't handle... the Lincoln repeater! _________________

| After reading through this thread the game sounds great. Im still most exited by the video i saw with the re-creation of Kenshiro and how he could make people explode with punches. However for now i need to withstain from getting it so that I can continue to focus on LE! |

It is quite possible to become a crazy hand to hand fighter. You can up your unarmed strength a lot and then get the perk that makes enemies explode when you kill them. It is hard at first, but is by far the most rewarding of the ways to fight. _________________ "So they want to kill my men? Well two can play at that game."

Yeah the video i saw was really encouraging. On a side note, but related to Hokuto no Ken.
Evidently during a fight I had i used Hokuto Shin Ken. Im usually very light fighting with people(unless they hit me hard, then i destroy them to the best of my abilities) anyways supposedly i really hurt one of the black belt with a low kick i did.
Im shocked and dont think i was fighting hard enough for it to be from me, but my kick bruised her entire leg and even supposedly caused the skin to rupture. I feel bad to an extent IF! it was me, but at the same time, if it was then i kick someone and made their leg explode, which just sounds awesome. . |

In case there is anyone who wants it, someone made a fully interactive map for Fallout 3.
