hard candy

The other day I was watching how its made, and one of the things they had was hard candy. It is really quite amazing to see them made. To go from a large clump of a chewy, candy like substance, to small chewy candys, to hard candy. It was truly a very good episode.

There was a recipe for hard candy in this cookbook my mom had when i was little. It was amde from this syrup type stuff and you poured it into cold water to get interesting shapes. It was red and looked delicious. I always used to beg for us to make it but we never did. *sad face*

That sounds like it would be good, but where would you get the syrup from? Also our grandmother used to make this delicious cherry candy like substance. It was very sweet and made from real, just picked cherries.

You made the syrup it was the candy and what was in the cookbook. Then you formed it into shapes using the cold water!

That does sound fun to make. I wish I had the recipe to make it. I would have a blast trying it out I bet.
