With Koku failing to come when summoned, his eminence displays a look disappointment on his face. Then with another burst of energy exclaims

"BEAN! We summon you to the field!"

(First time suru judging, let me know if something doesn't seem right...)

Billgar's suru, anxious to fight, pokes at his hand as he holds it back until the call is given. Archaic's bug sits quietly, what looks like to be his small jaw grinding. I quickly turn from the door, almost knocking Kecil off my shoulder from the sudden change in direction. Kecil lazily flies off and perches on the side of the table-field. I rush over to the table, sliding on one knee, and yell, "RELEASE!"

Both open their hands. Billgar's suru charges eagerly, rushing into the open field as fast as its tiny legs can carry it. Its horn low, it aims for Archaic's beetle, which takes a second to respond to being released from Archaic's hands, but slowly starts to pick up speed. Billgar's beetle makes contact first, almost surprising Archaic's, but in its haste does nothing more than to cut a flesh wound in its side, then trip and fall over. Archaic's beetle moves in and slams its horn right into the underside, and a very faint hissing noise can be heard. Archaic's beetle starts to eat.

Billgar's rolled a 2
Archaic's rolled a 5
Archaic's gains an inch (new: 2 HP, 2 ATK)

Billgar saddened realized that perhaps suru fighting just is not his sport.

Frustrated he storms out of the petshop.

*Archaic chases after the emperor and throws the 2 inch suru beetle at him.*

"That man is also such a baby, but I do believe that's yet an other victory for me."

*Archaic shouts out:*

"Here's a beetle for you to make up for the lose, please come again in the future with a baby that one is sure to have."

Turning around billgar turns to all smiles as he catches the suru that archaic was giving to him.
Petting it he speaks

"Your name is now Vladamir!"

Billgar skips off into the distance.

I walk into the shop and see that it is ran by the man I have recently met in the Capitol. "Hello! We have heard of the suru fights even as far as Cadria and I have always been curious about what they looked like. I confess I cannot buy, but I was wondering if maybe you would let me see one?"

*Archaic turns around and looks at the woman standing behind him. With a stoic look on his face he simply points to the stump where a battle was just held.*

"I'm afraid you just missed it, but I'm sure if you wait around long enough the emperor will be back to challenge one of my stronger ones. Of course if he doesn't then I don't know what to tell you. These things are expensive and its not good to just kill one off you know."

"Although I may seem contradictory for I judge these battles, it is simply my job. These suru fights can get pretty ghastly at their small sizes, and I cannot imagine the carnage of beetles that have grown to feet in size. I guess fighting for your meals is still pretty natural though."

Kecil and I walk out the door, keeping behind the Emperor out of earshot so he doesn't run away again.
