Due to Beanbaker's inability to give directions, a hired carriage was sent to pick you up and bring you to your destination.  Sleeping in the cart, you awake to see massive gates opening to the outside of the capital.  The carriage driver pulls out some distance into the fields, and looks back to signal that you have arrived at your destination.

Upon jumping out, you are startled by an unknown roar.  A drop of water falls on your head.  Looking out over the field, the tan grasses ahead turn gray as clouds overhead begin to gather and block out the sun.  A few raindrops fall now and then, but there is still time before the storm gathers strength.  The winds pick up from the south, snapping twigs from branches and begin to push you off balance for a moment.  The lush green plants nearby, grayed from the absence of light to shine their beauty, whip and slash in the gusts.

To your left, you spot some movement in the distance.  Some animals, too far away to be identified, run from the open grasses to under immense trees.

I check my long sword to make sure it's not going to fall off as I run.

"It's good"

I head out of the field towards the forest, walking as a man walks his girl down the street. noticing every thing that could hurt his girl and checking every corner.

Sensing some paranoia, some animals to the left of you in some tall reeds take off and disappear out of sight and earshot.  Ahead you see something crawling along the ground.  It looks as though it is searching or sniffing for something, and you can barely make out two appendages protruding from the body.

The lizard perks up and faces towards you. A bit on edge it stands at the ready, somewhere in between a retreating stance and one of attacking. The red eyes of the small green creature show more fear than anything else.

without hesitation I charge the creature with my sword in both hands and off to my right, I attack with a swing from right to left aiming for a chest or neck shot.

Taking your newly obtained longsword in your hand you ready yourself and charge the lizard. You two handed swing has a great amount of force and you manage to cut deep into the lizard on the first bout. Wounded it bleeds profusely, but manages to snap back at you with its last bit of strength. It lays in pain awaiting the final blow.

with a final chop, this lizard would be my first kill. I move to finish him with a chopping swing straight down on his open wound.

The lizards life comes to a swift end and its bloodied corpse lays on the ground. Looking about the other lizards in the area seem to have scattered off after you engaged their comrade in battle.

See as there are no more lizards around I clean my sword and sheath it.

"now where'd they go..."

Heading off into the darker parts of the forest , I notice the dark clouds rolling in.

Remembering what rumors were told about the forest of souls, it seems as if some strange force prevents you from actually entering and you stick to the outskirts of the forest where you were before. After not so long a time, you spy another lizard, this time in the dirt. It seems to be wounded.

Once you get close you realize that the creature is already near death. Though still barely holding onto its life, it appears as though it has fallen victim to another larger animal...recently. A large chunk taken out of its flesh, some of its ribs are exposed and you can see a fragment of its lung expand and contract as it gasps desperately for air.

"this one's really messed up."

drawing my sword back," I'll send you off now, at least you wont suffer anymore little guy."

hitting at his heart with the tip of the sword to end him quickly and without much more pain.

The lizards life comes to an end and you thusly collect the second corpse. With both the required items in hand it makes sense to report with them back to the capital and claim your awards.
