Why is it that in elevators they list a number for you to call if you have a cell phone on you and something goes wrong. Truthfully how many elevators do you get reception in?

I think its just a "just-in-case" type of thing. If anyone happens to have some sort of signal, then they are in luck. Isnt there in some models of elevators a built-in phone anyways?

There are some models with built in phones, but if power goes out, then the phones won't work. It is a bad situation when those go out, especially when stuck on a high floor. Some phones may get signal in elevators, especially if the top latch on elevators is opened up.

Also, I get reception in my elevator so I could use it. Besides it acts as peace of mind sort of deal. Like if you get in an elevator and it doesn't say that, a red flag could pop up in your mind and you'll think "what the heck am I going to do if something goes wrong?" At least knowing theres somebody that can somehow help you if you can call them is reassuring.
